A casual metro FO should be on about $220/flight
Full time metro FO should be around $34k.
These are rough figures relating to the award. Do PelAir pay the award? I wouldn't have a clue. Sorry can't help out with any more info.
I think that you would more than likely have to buy your own metro endorsement if you want a job And if he is prepared to do so, then tell him not to purchase a co-pilot endorsement, cos that would just be a waste of money, as if he would want to upgrade to command later he would have to redo the whole 5 hour endorsement (co-pilot endorsement=3 hours).
Sorry I can't be of more help.

When I was a Metro F/O with PelAir the pay was just over $30k. It may have gone up a little. Yes PelAir pay the award. Capt is about $46k. Not enough if you ask me.
Bases are now (I may be a couple wrong on this) Rocky, Brissy, Mexico (sorry Melbourne) and Adelaide. Oh and Darwin. Sydney went last year if I'm not mistaken (which I often am). However a 1900 is supposed to be based there now/soon.
Hours would vary depending on the base, but it'll be around 700-800 a year. Mostly night, yippee! I was doing 70-75 a month. Remember 6 weeks a year leave. Oh you very rarely work weekends, which is a plus.
The bond. I paid $1200 for a ground school (run by them), which you don't get back. Then I paid $4800 for a F/O endorsement, which I got back after one year with them. They'll give you a Command endorsement when they need you to upgrade. I wouldn't worry about doing a ground school or endorsement anywhere else if you want a job with them. They'll teach you what you have to (and more) know. Heard about one guy with hours on type having to go to the ground school again due lack of knowledge.
Hope this helps.

Apparently they are about to run a ground school in the coming weeks. Positions already filled for the course.
Would be interested to know how many hours/experience the guys/girls that got a spot have. Can anyone enlighten me?

Hate to tell you this but your info is wrong, no crane air guys are on the metro course, and requirments for crane air are a lot higher than most if not all operators at bankstown, so although they did operate a duchess the lowest time pilot had about 1000hrs (most had more) before getting the job on the duchess and was given the aircraft and an out of sydney base and were only in contact with sydney if something was wrong, ie maintenance req. they also were trained to do their own 50hrlys, and did them during the 3hrs at bourke so i don't see how that could be considered being babied,
from experience, it was just as challenging as any of the other bank runs, if not more so due to the fact it ran 5 days a week, and a duchess is slow, cramped, and less than fun in turbulence.
what is with the interest in crane air, did you get rejected from them?
most of the other info in your other post about crane air is incorrect also, open your eyes a bit, the industry is cyclic, were you around when TNT expanded and then 3 months later closed down, or recently when wards restructured a number of runs???
enough of this, life is to short and flying is a good excuse to get paid to do very little work, so i am off to enjoy myself
Have a good day

well said Duke.
Dunny probably had been rejected and is just a little upset.
For your info dunny you are right the PACAV boys are not on the Metro Course at PELAIR, they are on the Westwind.
