Cap10 Caveman,
I rest my case!
Holders of an instrument rating should have an equal opportunity status to apply for the cadetship. As long as the cadet agrees to redo the IFR rating, there should not be a problem.
Keg and co.... your input would be appreciated.
Kaos.

Sorry KAOS, I have no idea on the subject. I'm on annual leave at the moment and won't be in a position to even start to find out some reasoning for another six weeks.

Does anybody know if Qantas 'equal opportunities' require that a certain percentage of their pilot recruitment is female? If so, does that have a bearing on the standards applied to females going through the application process, given the presumably lower number of female applicants?
I'm asking with reference to the Cadet program, but expect the same policy to apply for DE.

KAOS,
I totally agree that far too many potential applicants miss out becuase of the no-CIR requirement... My understanding is that a disproportionate number of cadets who had CIRs were failing the training because it was harder to meet the Qantas standard after having developed their own habits. The philosophy 'just relearn the rating' sounds good, but unfortunately doesn't easily happen in practice.
Sure not everyone has that much trouble, but it was difficult for Qantas to manage the problems that some did have.
