I totally agree that far too many potential applicants miss out becuase of the no-CIR requirement... My understanding is that a disproportionate number of cadets who had CIRs were failing the training because it was harder to meet the Qantas standard after having developed their own habits. The philosophy 'just relearn the rating' sounds good, but unfortunately doesn't easily happen in practice.
Sure not everyone has that much trouble, but it was difficult for Qantas to manage the problems that some did have.
