I want to buy a GPS
I bought a Magellan GPS 310 not long ago, was about $300 from memory. I believe this is the most basic and cheapest Magellan you can buy and does an excellent job. You can input a heap of landmarks as well as program routes etc. Has a backlit display, runs on 2 AA batteries. As NAP has mentioned, need to know what kind you want, what you want to use it for before anyone can recommend one for you, yet if your after a cheap basic GPS you can't go past the 310.

dxlr8r,
Whilst living in Remote NT, I too was looking for similar products. (in particular a head set.) I found manufacturers sites great for finding details on available products, and most have links available (or names of) dealers.
Check out Garmin, Magellan (spelling??) Apollo etc websites, and then try to source some dealers.
Personally I have a Garmin 3 pilot, which is probably a little more expensive, but none the less a great unit.
I have bought (whilst in Darwin) a headset and vhf handheld radio from Wadeair, based in Orange NSW.
I found them the cheapest, but was advised by other dealers that their Warranty work was not to the same standard (I think because they had to send it overseas or something)
I can’t comment on this, as I have never had a problem with the aforementioned products.
They seemed like a reasonable outfit to me, and it was simple to get the products posted up.
Having said that, shop around, and I suppose it is also nice to support local industry by buying locally…
(Rossair sell GPS, and your company may even have an account to help you pay for it…)
anyway, best of luck, and happy flying.
