Why are there 4 categories?

HI all

Can someone please explain why there are 4 categories of dunnunda? It would be easier to brouse 1 rather than 4 and can we please have a seperate one for the Kiwis. I don't think it is fair to group our 2 countries as one.

Cheers

Dunnunda and Godzone is how the Antipodes (as the Brits call us) is viewed. ie they lump New Zealand and Australia together.
I wouldn't take offence, the Brits are used to being beaten by one or both of us at regular intervals.

Just so long as they don't call us colonials I am happy.

As our fair handmaiden says, the Forum is called Dunnunda & Godzone because that is where we are, I will let you guys fight over which Island is Godzone

The reason there are 4 categories is to save those who aren't interested in one area from wading through all of the other stuff.

We all have limited time nowadays.

The moderating load is higher but the result for D & G PPRuNers is generally better.

Whether it is "fair" to link the Big Islands issues with the little'uns like NZ and Tassie, well I'm just not going there.

Thumbs up

I'm with Woomera.

I like the 4 cats. I'm not real interested in some stuff and I appreciate not having to wade through literally dozens of (to me) irrelevant posts to unearth the stuff I want to follow.

Keep up the good work, W!!

Thumbs down

I find the 4 categories to be a pain in the @rse. I don't know about anyone else, but I now have to visit FOUR places where it was previously just the one. It hasn't saved me any time at all, in fact, it's costing me more time to Proon these days than it used to... especially when the server is acting a bit slow.

I know that the above won't change anything here but, after what Woomera said, felt I just had to record me tuppence worth.

Port Morbid was third and a half world when I was last there nearly eleven years ago. I shudder to think of what it's like now.
And Telekom?? Bwahahahaha.........

I'm with Ozexpat..
You can't get Broadband in some places,
All the catorgories in one area and more listing on each page would be great.

By the way, the best island is the biggest!!!

At the last calculation, if you forwent ? 6 G & Ts at sundown and foreswore acquaintance with Messrs J Walker and friends and allowing for the odd beer, you would be able to install one of them satellite thingumys.

For serious PPRuNers it's a matter of priority don't you know.

Gee, Woomera, thanks for those suggestions... I was just telling someone this morning that I don't feel that I've yet made enuf sacrifices for PPRuNe! One of those suggestions is easy, but me 6 GTs are not negotiable!

I actually DID investigate "them satellite thingumys" and the best linespeed they're capable of is much slower than I get now. I'd just luuuuuurve to spend more money to support me PPRuNe addiction!

It's probably just as well that I'm not a serious Prooner...
