Privatisation of Australian airports - an unmitigated disaster for the taxpayers of this Country....yet, politicians of all persuasions in Canberra, Brereton, Albanese, all of them, over a long period of time since and before 1997, think it has been a wonderful initiative. The new owners don't give a tinkers cuss to the GA industry but are trying to reap what they can out of it. Extend this to an out-of-control CASA and is it any wonder GA is floundering in Australia! but hey guys.....they couldn't care less!!
I am done with an industry I was proud of once upon a time, but that disappeared several years ago, regrettably.

I would go further and say that privatization of our airports has effectively stymied our economy. There has been no improvement in runways at the congested ports like Sydney and Melbourne for years, meaning airlines have to fit in with the airports availability, not offer flights and services at times that would maximize tourism, international trade, domestic trade etc etc.... Even simple day trips to Sydney or Melbourne from the country to conduct business/meet appointments ie spend money, is difficult these days because the regionals get shafted around and sometimes wear hours of delays. The only economy booming is car park revenue and Uber take up. Strangle the trade hubs, strangle the economy.

[T]rying to reap what they can out of it.
The word "reap" is a typo. It's "rape" of the public using their own assets.

There really needs to be an inquiry into airport privatization and what benefit to the community we have achieved. In the case of Melbourne and Sydney millions of dollars have been spent on car parks and shopping malls/eateries, in contrast barely anything on actual economic infrastructure, like proper freight terminals and additional runways, Brisbane being the only exception. Ex GAAPs have completely dwindled and had half their land repurposed and the industry based at each dying, then the land being sold to industry not related to air transport. It looks like nobody at all seems to care one iota, the NIMBYs win and have the airport replaced with warehouses that burn regularly with dangerous chemicals and a multitude of trucks rumbling through their streets, but its safer heh? no planes falling on your lawn...

And in Victoria they can't blame cost, or affordability, after all they spent $2 billion to NOT build a freeway, and $1 billion to NOT hold the Commonwealth games..... That's $1 billion more to NOT go ahead with things rather than build a $2 billion third runway at the Airport. I could probably dig up another $10 billion in things that didn't happen, but cost the taxpayer.

True it will achieve nada...

I'm not sure what other avenues are available, if any.
