Two new Boeing Max 8 BBJ's for RAAF flight testing in France
The two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for the RAAF VIP fleet are undergoing final flight checks in France after fitting long range tanks and VIP interior etc.
The aircraft has been purchased, not leased. The two 20 year old 737's will be disposed of.

Wonder if Chris over on Australia's East Island is watching....
That's East Islands, plural, packapoo - there's at least two, or three if you follow the line of our national anthem to "guard Pacific's triple star"
And while young Christopher might be watching, I'm sure that the Treasurer and the Minister of Defence will quickly set him straight.
The former will point out that there's no money, and the latter that what the RNZAF really needs is aircraft that can un-refuelled:

The former will point out that there's no money, and the latter that what the RNZAF really needs is aircraft that can un-refuelled:
- do an unsuccessful Antarctic flight (Christchurch -> McMurdo, oops socked in -> Christchurch); and
- take a company's worth of light infantry (say ~150) complete with all their PPE and personal weapons to Darwin or Hawaii
