Recruitment agency in Melbourne

Hi guys, are there any recruitment agencies that specialise in office aviation roles such as flight planning etc within Melbourne. I have looked at agencies online but mostly are regarding ground operating roles. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Graduate would indicate that a degree is required.

Good morning Sukhoi.

This an old ad but it might give you an idea what Jetstar are looking for. As far as I know they are the only ones located in Melbourne. Qantas dispatch are located in Sydney and Virgin dispatch are located in Brisbane. The prerequisites for Virgin are similar to Jetstar and depending on your experience a degree is not mandatory.
Good luck in your search as being a flight dispatcher is a good job.

Is a "Dispatch Officer." a government-licensed position in Australia?

I don't see mention of a license requirement in the ad so I guess it's not ?

With the tech knowledge required to dispatch an airplane (and a government's penchant for controlling everything), I'm surprised there's not a license required.

Uh, okay, never mind:

"Flight dispatch licence or PPL/CPL or previous Flight Dispatch experience or Flight planning/Aviation related Degree or Diploma desired...".

When all else fails, read the entire ad.

But, in an attempt to recover from my poor attention to details, it still appears a dispatcher license isn't required ? So, those selected for the position but lacking a dispatcher license aren't required to have one or will have to complete a training program to get one ?

In Australia no license is required to become a flight dispatcher or dispatch officer.

In the USA you need to be licensed by the FAA.

Cheers

Good morning Hoss58,

I greatly appreciate the information you have given. Regarding the role what would be the best way for applying? I have checked company career portals but jobs are few and far between which is kinda of demoralising when I start job hunting for the role. Regarding my pilot experience, would that help in landing a job or do they usually look for entry level dispatch candidates with no experience? I asked about the job agencies which may help in attaining a role such as this however it seems that there really aren't any agencies which specialise in this. Thank you once again.

kind regards

hoss,

So this mention of a license in the ad means they'd accept a government dispatcher license from another country since there's no dispatcher license in CASA Land ?

"Flight dispatch licence or PPL/CPL or previous Flight Dispatch experience or Flight planning/Aviation related Degree or Diploma desired...".

As there is no such thing as a Flight dispatch licence in Oz I suspect they may mean a license from another countre e.g an FAA disptachers license from the USA.

Whilst having that license alone would not guarantee you a job it may be the difference if two or more candidates have the same qualifications.

At my company we have a number of dispatchers who have FAA licenses but again not a prerequisite.

Sukhoi, I think you are already looking in the right places. the jobs section of airlines web sites are the best place to start. Not sure about recruitment agencies however.

Based on your aviation experience you are quite qualified to apply for a dispatchers position.

The problem you face is that these type of jobs don't come up very often and usually occur when an airline expanding or when they need to replace people due to resignations.

I found that old Jetstar ad just by doing a web search using "Jetstar flight disptach jobs."

I wish you the best in your search for that elusive job.

Regards,

Sukhoi SU-37 Before you start looking for a job in Australia, what is your Australian residence or citizenship status? It is highly unlikely any Australian airline would to sponsor your visa in a flight despatcher role if you are not already a Citizen or Permanent Resident.

If you are not an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident you need to research your Visa options as a self sponsored immigrant. Australian work Visas can be difficult to obtain without professional qualifications in an Australian "Skills in Demand" and the right age bracket.

Hi Tail Wheel,

Currently an Australian citizen by birth. Im surprised there isn’t an airline specific job agency that handles admin or operational work. A lot are geared to ground handling it seems
