ICAO ATPL conversion
Hi everyone,
just wanted to get some guidance on how to convert my ICAO ATPL to a CASA ATPL. I did my initial flight training in Australia and as such hold a casa CPL & multi engine instrument rating (2012).
since then I moved overseas and have been doing airline flying with an ICAO ATPL.
Is it possible for me to simply convert my ICAO ATPL to a CASA ATPL? If so what is the procedure? Exams/flight test etc.
Cheers!!

You'll also need to be trained/assessed by a Part 142 Organisation as meeting the relevant MOS competencies before sitting the test. (The CASA letter will state this) 👌

I've heard this bit is immensely difficult, any idea on how to get an instructor? Perhaps for an a320 SIM? Since I'm already rated , figured it would be less time and money spent
If you are competent on type, the flight test is not at all difficult, but it’s immensely expensive. Ansett Aviation Training in Melbourne are best equipped to step you through the process, do the assessment and conduct the test. You can provide your own support pilot who must also be competent on type, or they will assign someone, at additional cost, of course.

I hadn't flown for quite some time before doing my ATPL ride and got through it all.

The IREX exam has a reputation for being tricky, but there are tutorials available.

The information you seek is on the CASA Website that I linked in post #2
Along with other requirements, it states.....
Have you spoken with CASA?

You won’t have to repeat the IREX. The other good news is that the ATPL flight test covers initial IPC. Make sure the Examiner gives you 12 month validity for that.
You will need proof of prior multi crew operations to avoid the MCC, but in your case that shouldn’t be too hard. CASA being CASA won’t just accept logbook time without some recognisable certification.e.g. from your previous airline. Plus, of course verification from the issuing authority of the ATPL that you are ‘trading’ that the licence you have is an original and not itself based on a validation.

I spoke with the guy who wrote the exams, can't remember his name, Gavin Secombe maybe??? He told me it's just like a law exam. IREX was bloody hard graft when I did it. So I myself have been going through the new ATPL law test texts, with highlighters and tabs in the AIP and the parts 91,135 and 121 Regs and MOS'.

I'm of the understanding that since I have completed the irex during my initial training, that its not required. (according to everybody's replies)
Would anyone be able to give me some guidance on what study material to use for the other two exams?
