Smile Brisbane based lifestyle jobs

Hiya fellas,

I've got an Aus ATPL & just under 10000 hrs wide body experience from overseas.
Am looking to apply for RPT jobs based in BNE, that will allow relatively generous days at home or allow lifestyle rostering (week on/week off, etc)
I would appreciate if anyone could recommend operators that fit this bill, even if it means a lower take home.

Thank you.

Good luck buddy....My mate was stacking shelves at Woolies while I was a proud commercial pilot not long ago. I gave up because he was making twice the money I was earning without worrying about medicals and IFR renewals. Careful when you reenter the atmosphere because reality will bite pretty hard.

Mrs Pinky, retired just over 12 months ago after working for just over 40 years in a Vineyard owned by a fairly large company. She made more money at that job than I ever did as a Pilot!

(SMS777;Still miss the sound of that Queenair at T/O power around 0200hrs.)

Despite some of the negativity expressed here, I would have thought that Alliance fit the bill. Apparently they are hiring DEC's too.

Your "widebody" hours are a meaningless qualification in these parts. However there are one or two operations that might fit your requirements, but in my experience, there are so many ozzy pilots wanting something like what you are looking for that by the time you get to know about them they have already filled all their slots, such is the demand. There actually is a pilot shortage upon the world in general however there is no shortage of guys wanting to work at home, all with mountains of all kinds of hours.

Thanks guys for your replies.

Been away from the cockpit for a few months now, to try out a 9-5 lifestyle.

@sms777 - Getting off the flying gravy train has been interesting. Solid night-time sleep + waking up in the same bed every morning + beautiful family time, interspersed with serious withdrawal symptoms every time I look up at the sky.

@chimbu - Could you give an indication of the sort of rosters alliance run?

Anyone know if tiger has a BNE rostering base?

addict.

Both Alliance and Tiger have BNE bases, but you won't get hired directly into a BNE base by either- Perth for Alliance and Melbourne for Tiger.

You will also only get a temporary contract with Tiger.

You might look at Fly Corporate or Rex.

This is all wrong, perhaps previously but now all possible. The Tiger contracts are gone.

Can't comment on Alliance rosters ('cos I don't work there), but former colleagues who have gone there tell me it is pretty good, although high hours at present.

Air Nauru might also be worth a call, a very happy team there, but again I have no direct knowledge of their rosters.

If nothing else comes up try Boeing Flight Training at BN airport and you could perhaps get an interview as a simulator instructor. With your hours you would also be of good value to any of the flying schools in the Brisbane area providing you once held a instructor rating and got current again.
Either way you will need a current instrument rating (IPC) before qualifying for any flying job apart from GA instructing; although that would help.

How much do you love night freight, old aeroplanes, and every weekend off?

@AerocatS2A: Would love the weekends off. Is this domestic freight? Coz if its anything longer, it will mean variable weekends, with the inevitable delays & disruptions. I am interested, please pm or on the board.
