Vale John Simon

And now another one.
John Simon, ex Talair and Air Niugini, passed away from a ruptured duodenal ulcer in Cairns Base Hospital.
The ranks continue to thin.

Wow!
My first flight in PNG was a ride with John to Fane in the Otter.
He wasn't that much older than me!

Sad news. Has anyone got a photo of Simmo they can put up?

He wasn't at PX when I was there, however I'm sure I've had a few SPs with him at the dero and the old airways 215 before I joined PX.

Got any War Hawk?

Sad. John was a good guy and a good operator. He was still relatively young.

29 Gus Swinbourne
Is that Gus Swinbourne who was a flight lieutenant on Lockheed Neptunes of No 11 Squadron RAAF Richmond in the mid 1950's?.
If so, lovely quiet modest bloke who let me fly the Neptune from the RH seat while he was doing continuation training at Richmond. I was there at the time with a Lincoln after completing an anti-submarine exercise off the coast in association with a Neptune crew.
