JeppView NOT for RPT or Commercial Use?

Hi all,

Question... Why is there a warning with JeppView not to be used for RPT or commercial operations?

The paper subscription is the same price (once you add paper enroute charts) to the electronic version, but I am confused as to what the difference is apart from the obvious?

Im sick to death of updating countless changes that read (NONE) at the bottom of the page!

I want to click a button and then print what I need...

Is there something different about printing your own approach plates from your home PC then receiving them in the mail?

Im guessing Jepp just want to charge companies for the use of the product and raise the price, but if we purchase our own set of the paper version shouldn't this have the same disclaimer?

Any light on this issue would be really appreciated. And anyone using them in the Airlines that has purchased them personally?

Subscribe to Jepp FD-Pro instead. That is certainly RPT approved.

At the cost of a tailored charting solution, $20k+ if you don't already have one. $14000 I believe was the quote I got from Jepp.

Are you sure? CASA knows thousands of pilots use Jeppview/tablet. Why have they not banned it?

Maybe the issue is companies ("airlines") cannot use the personal version; they must get a site licence for their "airline" operation.

Where does it say that JeppView is not to be used for RPT?

I see it now in the new EULA for Jepp FD. JeppView is the PC programme, Jepp FD is the tablet app.

I would suggest that the restriction is for commercial reasons. I.e., they don't want a small airline using Jepp FD as a cheap way of providing an EFB, they want all airlines to pay for Jepp FD Pro.

I don't see anywhere that says you can't use JeppView and print your required charts.

thanks for the feed back, I hear many guys who use the personal version and print the Departure, arrival and alternate aerodromes for the routes to be flown, and carry an iPad for back up and regs.

Thing is that jeppessen actually ask you what purpose your using it for and make a statement that it is not for commercial or RPT use...

So how different is the Pro (company version) for the "private" or FD version?

Shouldn't really be much different seeing as long as you have updated charts how is this different then having the paper subscription. What i mean here is if you use the paper and the cost is the same for the JeppVIEW and FD then what do they care. I know the program is cheaper but if you add the paper enroute charts then the cost is the same.

Anyone using the JeppFD PRO? (if thats what its called) Is it any different?

I don't see anywhere that says you can't use JeppView and print your required charts.
I agree no rule i can find, but its the statement Jeppessen give you when you call.

Call and ask them, you will most likely get the same spiel I got.

Anyway Im going JeppView and printing what I need. Im sick of updating places I may never go to!

Never used FD Pro. The screenshots in the AppStore suggest it has additional features such as engine out procedures and other company data.

I have long used JeppView and printed destinations plus reasonable alternates. I also carry the paper enroute charts in the aircraft as they are included in the electronic subscription and the JeppView printed enroute charts are lacking in detail (comms frequencies would be nice Jeppesen, if you are reading this.)

For reading the AIP, actual enroute chart use, and emergency alternates, I have Jepp FD. The tablet gets stowed in the flightbag by transition.
