Orange to Jandakot
Hi all,
I'm planning for a trip from YORG to YPJT in a warrior.
Any advise? Here's my plan currently.
Day 1
------
YORG - YGTH - YMIA - YPIR
Day 2
------
YPIR - YCDU - YFRT
Day 3
------
YFRT - YPKG - YPJT
How are the airfields along the railway line looking recently? from YFRT - YPKG, anybody has been there recently?

YFRT is pretty cool. Spend some time, visit the museum, ring the care takers ahead of time.
If you're staying overnight, food is good, rooms are entire houses, they let me put the plane in the hangar (built for a 767, so, PA28 shouldn't be a problem).
Worth going for a walk at night away from the lights to see some stars.
Watch out of dingos though if you do...

I'd not describe any of the ALA's between Forrest and Kalgoorlie as airfields..
I reckon that you have chosen wisely as far as refuelling is concerned. YGTH, YMIA and YPIR are all 24 hour self serve. (We refuelled at YPIR on June 10th 2016 and know that the bowser there then worked!)
Our last trip to Ceduna involved making sure that the Avgas retailer turned up. To my knowledge, there is no self serve there. So please check that.
I agree with what 'RatsoreA' wrote about YFRT. I reckon that overnighting there is one of the best experiences that one can have.
Pack warm clothing as 'On eyre' suggests. It gets very cold inland at night.

Dingos at YFRT is not a joke. Indeed, one of my vivid memories is of a dingo at YFRT. Me and buddy were tasked to deliver two Macchis from Pearce to the Eastern States. Mine to Edinburgh, buddies to Sale. The first day of flying was Pearce to Kalgoorlie to Forest to Edinburgh. I led the form to KG then buddy led to FRT/EDN.
After refueling ourselves in FRT, we saddled back up and taxied out for departure. It was a very short taxi with the checks being done on the roll. Buddy lined up on the left with me in echelon right and we took off on the roll. As we had entered the runway, I'd looked ahead down the runway and saw an animal sitting on the left side a few hundred meters down the runway. I radioed to buddy "Hey Buddy, look out for the dingo". Buddy had had his head inside the cockpit for most of the takeoff to that point. I saw him look up and seeing the dingo sitting on the runway about 200m ahead, he promptly swerved right towards me... I had already backed off a bit but a further jab of my brakes kept me well clear of buddy. The dingo was still clearing the runway as we passed abeam it.
So the dingo threat is real. Whether at the accommodation or on the runway, beware!

Make sure you apply for a visa; we don't ordinarily like Orange people over here! 
Would that be from the granddogs or great-granddogs?

Most of the sidings between Forrest and KG were/are maintained by Transfield periodically, the grass can get pretty tall but they are mostly very good surfaces, not that there's heaps to do at most of them.

Got to watch our W&B carefully as I won't want to be unable to take on full fuel. Full fuel makes calculation so much easier during refueling. How much you put in indicates how much you've used.
Amiri01, will watch for your beloved dingos, trying not to have to bbq any of them, although the prop should provide a good cut.
Gerry111, so what are the ALAs like typically along the railway line? easy to spot?
On eyre, we should have a BP carnet, so hopefully the self serve is available.
Capn Bloggs, was expecting oompa loompas when i went to Orange previously, but nope, was a tad disappointed.

There are a number you can spot easily if you look at Google Earth or Google Maps in satellite view.
I will not land anywhere where I cannot get a reliable opinion on its condition beforehand. For a forced landing, well that's different.
