Does anyone have a copy of the Coalition's Aviation Policy?

I haven’t seen one as yet.

However, here is a copy of the letter I sent on Wednesday 4th May to the current Infrastructure and Transport Minister, the Hon Darren Chester MP.

Dear Minister,

The Measured Approach to Aviation Reform from the Coalition 2010 Election Policy Paragraphs 20 and 21 relevantly provide;

“20. Revitalising the General Aviation Action Agenda
General aviation involves small aircraft undertaking roles such as charter and business flights, aerial-medical services, commercial and private pilot training, sports and recreational pursuits and various aerial work such as agriculture and surveying. The Coalition will review current tax arrangements to determine if incentives can be established to replace ageing aircraft. It will work with the industry to address the burden of regulatory changes and compliance, without compromising safety.
We will revitalise the General Aviation Action Agenda and establish a regular dialogue with the general aviation sector to address industry issues.
21. Pilot Training
The Coalition Government will establish Australia as a global leader in flight training. The Coalition will appoint a Trade Representative for Services. This Representative and the Australian Trade Commission will be tasked to promote Australia's pilot training services around the world.”

Would the above two paragraphs be able to be reinserted back into the policy for the next election?

I think it would be a great idea and beneficial to Australia.

I point out that these two paragraphs were removed from your policy document before the last election
.”

Is there such a 'thing' as the Opposition's Aviation Policy....?

Or the Greens....? (Except maybe to get rid of these fossil fuel burning
'contraptions', but which THEY all use every time THEY drive, fly, or take the train...I.e. do everything except 'walk'.....)

Cheers

I have it here.

Please don't distribute it, as I know it is very sensitive:

Given that CAsA has never instituted any government policy over the past forty years or so I would consider any political parties "Policy" irrelevant.
Epiphany!!!!....why not make the top ten positions in CAsA awarded by election,
The voters being the industry....Hell we'd have the best darned regulator in the world if their trough privileges relied on them getting elected.

Yes. I cannot tell a lie. I was involved in the 2010 policy after meeting with Tony Abbott.

All a waste of time as Julia got in that time and then someone ? Removed the policy before the last election. Very cunning. Can anyone guess who and why?

I have a copy currently on a roll in the "little house". The content looks very similar to Horatio's copy.

Does anyone know the identity of the individuals in the "Iron Ring"?
If they are on the Industry's payroll don't we have the right to know who they are and be allowed to contact them with our concerns?

LMS,
bit naive, why do you imagine they give a sh..t what your concerns are?
Oh, and they dont consider they are on the industry's payroll, which is another reason they dont give a sh..t.
Oh, and they consider you as a pilot or aviator have no rights, you have "privaleges" confered to you by them, which is another reason they dont give a sh..t.
Oh, as one of them has publicly stated, we are a bloody nuisance and they would really prefer it if we just bugger off, which really means they dont give a sh..t.

O Thorny One...SPOT ON !! Indeed the reality.

LMS...why not hava go.? Waste yr brain time, paper, ink, envelope and stamp.
Then stand back and wait for a reply...which you may not get.
And if you do, the response wont answer your questions anyway. WOFTAM tru
It will consist of bureaucratic crapspeak, bs platitudes and etc.

Just be thankfully that when you aviate in Oz the sky is blue and the land is flat and you are safe because the train load of regs, exemptions, instruments make it so.

CAsA says so. Arent we lucky.!!

I have written to my local member to ask for help for the Industry and have not received a reply. You are right - no-one gives a fig. What we need is 4 Corners or A Current Affair to do some digging. It worked for the Dairy Farmers and Truckies. I think the Media is the answer. They have more power than Politicians.

If you care about aviation please don't support the greens. A candidate told me today that their policy would be to initiate a government enquiry into "cemtrails" and introduce an increased fuel levy.

We had our local federal MP Luke Howarth (Lib with a small margin) here at YRED in sunny SE QLD a couple days ago to give him our aerodrome's 2 bob's worth and ask for his support for GA - which he unsurprisingly guaranteed.
AOPA also arranged for Allan Bligh to come up from Sydney especially for the meeting. Damn good effort and he certainly got the message across to Mr Howarth that the problems we outlined are representative of the whole country.
Hopefully the wheels will turn. Luke may not be able to do too much directly because he doesn't have the power.
But maybe, just maybe, he will get the opportunity to blow in the right ear now that he's got our message loud and clear.

I have heard a rumour that Minister Chester has conceded to an aviation "summit" with the Alphabet groups as a result of TamworthII

...but that the man who made it happen, the driving force, that guy who actually made the difference that nobody else could, has been explicitly barred from participating.

The 'driving force/ man could dye his hair, fit the moustache, don the pebble glasses and be taken into the aviation summit by one of the alphabet groups as the CFO, corporate spokesman or whatever.

And then give it as it is, right into ear of the 'miniscule'.

NZ or FAA regs Or open revolt to sideline CAsA. Enough is enough !!

I have very little faith in the integrity of some of the alphabet groups.

They are the ones who have failed to act, failed to influence, failed to open doors and failed to unite the community against this regulatory death.

Posted on PP before but probably more poignant today.

It's gone beyond any political solution now and the matter needs to be left to fester to it's logical conclusion before anybody can pretend to have an aviation safety organization that is transparent and has the confidence of what's left of the industry.

"Freeradicals/ general aviation/ flying instructors/ and of caged birds who thinkflying is a crime.

Asenior CasA Board identity once said that things will have to get worse beforethey can get better. Said with such sincerity it caused raised eyelids withmany already afflicted by the regulatory nepotism, the psychopathicincompetence, the arrogance, the indifference to adherence of the bureaucraticrole, a bipartisan and chronic lack of political will, and an apatheticindustry. Those quoted words above are becoming reality today and generalaviation in particular leads the stampede to destruction. Lemmings at the cliffface who don’t appear to care until the actual fall and then squeal for help on the way down.

Forall intents and purpose, it seems minority groups have little power ofpersuasion unless their cause is newsworthy, and appeals to at least 50% of thevoting public, (or at least enough as to make a dent in marginal seats). Suchminority groups need to be involved with activist groups of radicals and manyof these involve genuine moral and social justice or socialistic ideals. Ithelps if those radicals can involve their ideals with the teaching industry asit helps train the next generations to that way thinking.

Thegeneral aviation minority group has lost its opportunity to seize this status. The regulator has divided and conquered and now has the moral high ground. Theregulator controls the teachers of the next generations.

Anextract from a social media site came across my desk the other day, and withoutcommenting on the reason it was thought I may be interested, some remarkscaused me to capture a sample for reproduction here as it appears there arepeople who don’t think there is a problem of their own making in Australia. Onecontributor is a Chief Flying Instructor.

1.Malcontents and shonks are the only people who allege CASA corruption.
2.Dumb people, they’re everywhere agree with the summation of those who allegecorruption.
3.Bunch of idiots.
4.A poor reflection of a very small part of our industry.
5.Guards at work, bullet proof glass, airfields made no go areas to protect usagainst these whack jobs.
6.Worried that they will make the whole industry look like a bunch of yokels.
7.These guys are nuts.
8.With over 30 years and 150,000 hours of operation nationally andinternationally, I have never had a cross word, maybe 1 or 2 minor NCN’s andanything but cordial and civilized relations with CASA (or its predecessors).
9.Heavy jet international unrestricted world wide operations AOC gained in 100days flat.

Whilesome of these comments seem misguided, they are in answer to a question I hadnot seen about regulatory corruption, (nor was interested in enough to engagewith), I can only believe the people who wrote them, fervently believe theiropinions are true. Unfortunately they are at odds with what I’ve witnessed inmy 49 years in the industry and especially of late. Of note were the commentsfrom the flying instructor at point 1.

Thisaspect is of concern because it highlights the intergenerational radicaleducational agendas at work with a bend towards the “establishment” which isclearly replicated in society and educational socialism. It’s not a good systemto train people to a political, or other will of the day, when they may beforced to deal with self preservation strategy’s that evolve with otherpolitical, social or or bureaucratic environments.

Thenotion of flying training is a matter of manual dexterity. The subsequenttraining is for mathematical and engineering competence, physiological functionand maintenance of skills. To say flying training must include legalinterpretations, bureaucratic and political considerations or bending to thewont of the instructor is plain stupid and dangerous. To implant pre-judgmentsabout others misfortunes or their need to fight for their own crusades isstupid and dangerous and likely to alienate the pupil with his peers from othereducational establishments.

Oris this the new “compliant” flying school who has a business today only becauseof the kindly regulators model?

Ihave no great interest in flying any more in the current environment. I doubtit will get better before it gets worse. In fact I’m convinced that to hastenthe end would be a mercy. Further I believe we are well on the way to acomplete shut down of general aviation in Australia. When this happens the CASAgoal of only airlines and military will have been achieved and as these caneffectively self regulate within the confines of the national security needs ofthe day and ICAO.

Therewill be no need for CASA any more. There will be no need for a new DAS to passthe hot grenade to. There will be no need for a regulatory review process. There will be no need for government budgetary concerns and there will be noneed for the public servants who have engineered their own devolution.

Onlythen can the process start over again. Only then can someone put a regulatoryframework in place that can be tolerant, workable, forgiving, understandable, non confrontational, and cost effective. There is only a political solution tothe regulatory problem which the industry has allowed to be a self fulfillingprophecy. As there is no political will, the only option is to allow nature totake its course and let CASA self destruct. In the interim those who havesuffered from the regulatory malaise continue to push their case for justicewhich is denied them by delay.

Does anyone know if the meeting took place in Canberra on the 24th?
And who was permitted to attend?
Ben has been very quiet lately and am hopeful that he hasn't been silenced for using his right to have a voice in our "free" Country.
