Pilot Resume stockpiling
Pilot Resume stockpiling
There appears to be an organization on social media advertising as a place for all things aviation related with a large focus on jobs for newbies in Australia, posting jobs for low hour pilots.
This would be all great if these were true and the positions actually did exist, however this is not the case. One post boldly claimed there was a new academy opening in NSW which would teach 600 asian students per year, with an encouragement for instructors to send through their resumes, but with no location or company details given.
There now appears to be somewhat genuine looking ads looking for grade 2 and grade 3 instructors but again no specifics, no company names, no email address for said company CP/CFI.
All this appears to taking advantage of naive low hour pilots and many need to be aware that you are sending a lot of you're private details to an undisclosed source who could use your information to their advantage and may tarnish your profile.
Please take caution when sending your resume with all your personal details, hours, ARN, qualifications etc when you don't know the intentions of recipient.
And finally,if its too good to be true, it probably is

I have noticed this a LOT, with my resume dumps in the past, it is prudent to be aware of what you are sending. I spoke to one CP that says he has received all sorts including DOB, Creditcard, passport scans, Drivers license scans, etc.
personally I would never include a photo, full DOB, Passport or DL details (except "current/nationality")
personal total address should only be included if you trust the recipient, instead use suburb, city etc.
basically, be aware who you send it to, especially if the company is not reputable, the information you send should only be information you wold be comfortable with public access - not all companies dispose of the thousands of CVs they receive confidentially or correctly

I think I know the site you are talking about. Ends in ... pilot life. Shot up from 0-20,000 likes overnight. Someone is trying to start a business here so good luck to them.
Disclosure: I run https://www.facebook.com/SecondHandPilot Only 2,200 likes for us over 4 years. We only take the details you need to sell your gear for free (name, email, phone). I do accept beers as gratitude!

Sorry, but when I saw the thread title, my first thought was, "wonder why he stopped?"

You guys are being ridiculous. What's the difference between uploading a resume through seek or this mob? Would they need a few tv appearances or ads before you trust them?
We give our credit card numbers to the internet every day and don't think twice. Here's an idea.... If you want to steal resumes for some weird reason, put a job on AFAP with a hotmail address attached, because apparently that's acceptable but this isn't.

...Pilot Life
This was set up by a couple of guys from Sydney, and it soon became apparent that they were posting positions that had already been filled, repeating old ads. There also appears to have been some sort of dispute between the two guys running the page and website and I believe one of them is now out.
Be wary of who you supply your details too, even when submitting CV's to operators only supply the details required for the position. They don't need your ARN or even your address until (if) you start.

Same goes for credit card information, there's a massive difference between sending credit card information and using your credit card through a secure system to pay for something.
I personally can't see any reason why a legitimate job search agency, or even a company hiring someone, should require license, passport, credit or other information like that through email. Yes they will require it at before they can hire you, but they don't need it to evaluate you in the preliminary stages.
Just be careful.

I don't think this site has any particular connections or contracts, they just seem to re-post ads from various sources, often quite a while after the positions were originally posted.
I'd be very very wary of providing any information that could be used to steal your identity!
