When was 22 last active at Moorabbin

I was doing Xwinds circuits today at YMMB, and runway 22 became active for a Tiger Moth coming in and then leaving. I've never seen that happen before, anyone know when was the last time 22 was ever used?

Unfortunately, some poor sod turned off onto 22 without clearance after a full stop on 17L . Lucky the Tiger Moth had only lined up. Terrible timing, I hope they didn't get into too much trouble.

ATC don't seem to use 22 very often at YMMB. Never heard 22 as the active runway on the ATIS.

It mainly seems to happen when there is a bit of a crosswind on the other runways and maybe ATC think the plane has a limited crosswind component. Guess this applies to a Tiger Moth.

I've only ever been given 22 when landing a Decathlon. Didn't ask for it, but the tower gave me 22.

Rwy 22 is available if requested for operational reasons. I had it offered to me the other day when there were strong crosswinds on 17. GWG was using it yesterday for most of the afternoon.

I've been flying in and around Moorabbin for around 24 years. I've landed on 22 once in that time (before it was shortened).

Runway 22/04 at Moorabbin is used about 50 times a year it is able to be used if operationally required as in the case of the Tiger.
Its main use often comes when a squally Westerly change comes through it usually doesn't last long but if you are in a C152 returning from the T/A just as the front hits its a real life saver.

Have used it about 20 times since the late 1960's, especially in my Cessna 170a and Super Cub. When there is a sharp South Westerly blowing it is crazy not to request it, always able to pull up before 17L. By not using it enough we encouraged the planning clowns to place buildings on the approach and reduce the runway available, the morale is, if its there use it.
