The facts re Murchison are that we did not go out of business it was sold to the owners of Transwest who then comprehensively trashed the company. It's a long but typical Australian aviation penis envy story.
We bought the 3 aircraft in boxes off the wharf in Sydney.
Our Chief Pilot, The wonderful ex RNZAF VIP Sqdn Duncan Cumming had flown the aircraft.
We had three LAME's in the hangar who had done their apprenticeship on the very aircraft at Hatfield I think it was. They were ex MMA so they knew a bit about them. Mick Symons was the CE.
One of the Altair aircraft and I can't remember which one was rendered unserviceable by an enthusiastic moron using the incorrect paint stripper and destroying the bonding. Yup HdeH were using the same form of chemical bonding in WW11 aircraft now touted as leading edge.

.........................that's the one 'AE' that painting has pride & joy up on my wall with the other 3 you done for me (one to go, shall be in touch about the last chapter). I look at that Dove painting & often wonder what was I thinking on some of those nights when the WX was crap & all I had was a Batter Scout compass (few would know what I am talking about there) & a watch in which to make an Inst App, oh the Dove had all the fancy radio gear alright but only cut out from a Flying Mag & stuck on the inst panel

"CR No" I don't know what happened to old NBM, someone must know where the old girl ended up. It had manual Turbo chargers (waste gates) that where only there for looks, like both those old Doves nothing worked much.

NBM was bought by an aircraft collector, farmer, from Rupunyup, Vic. Heard that he has quite a collection including ex RAAF DC3. Had to check Google for the spelling (not that it was much help because it leads you to believe that Rupunyip is correct) and found evidence of a Wessex and Canberra there too.

Last report I heard was that NBM was with a private collection at Rupanyup, Vic.

I remember old DHI a true Dove & the LR35 beside it too, to think I used to jump from one to the other (diff operator), the contrast was amazing!
$9.5K for old ABM............My God it was lucky to be worth that when it was airworthy & I use that term loosely to:-)

Thanks for the confirmation Wally Mk2, regarding tan colour of the Dove at Wallan.
When I saw it there I always thought it was a strange for a Dove in that colour - was it a corporate scheme?

"I16" am trying to reach deep into my feeble old brain here & recall NMB's history. I 'think' & I use that term loosely it originally belonged to some Sultan or someone of note back in the 50's or so (so yes a corporate scheme I guess) but ended up being modified for more practicable use (Lyc engines) somewhere along the way.
Both ABM & NBM where in a poor state even when flying & where a challenge to keep flying as the owner (at the time when I used to drive them) found out.
It was all about bums on seats, 11 pax if I recall.
Just as a funny side note (& this is just a story) I did a charter down to YFLI many years back in ABM, took some guys with all their gear fishing & scuba diving. After a couple of days hanging around I met the guys (about 8) back at Whitemark drome for the return trip back to EN. I loaded all their clothes/gear in the cavernous luggage hold of the old Dove & I said is that it? Shortly afterwards along came a flat tray 4x4 Toyota with a heap of boxes, eskies & extra stuff all tied down on the back tray, that lot the guys expected to load into the Dove, their price catches over the last few days in the large Eskies full of ice & crays/fish! End result....wasn't popular but we stayed alive !
