Parafield Flying school pulling up stumps.

I have been told by a very good source that a long standing parafield based flying school on the far Eastern apron is pulling up stumps and ceacing to operate from Parafield, continuing operations only out of Murray Bridge.
I can only hope that this is not the case at all though even blind freddie can see how tough the market conditions are at the moment.
I would like to know if anyone has heard the same story?

True I believe having spoke to a few aviators I know who operate out of Parafield.

Unfortunately this will continue to be the case with smaller schools given that a few of the larger schools are unlawfully offering VETFEE Help to cover the CPL element of the training rather than just the Instrument Rating. The Higher Education Support Act does not allow VETFEE funding to support Certificate IV qualifications such as the commercial pilots licence.

Whilst this wrought does assist those that cannot afford the cost of pilot training the negative is that individuals will naturally go with the path of least resistance and spend the government cash at one of the larger schools eligible to offer VETFEE assistance regardless of whether what the larger schools are doing is dodgy and rather than go to a smaller school where they have to find a way of self funding.

What is the government doing about this??

Nothing. YET!!! But the issue is on their radars.

Interesting...I didn't know that, thanks for the heads up. I know I have seen a lot of students move to where they think they are getting "free" flying....

Yeah confirmed.

Sad day indeed. I like many others achieved their licenses through Dave's school. I still remember back in the 90's when he first opened.

Feel sorry for anyone seeking a decent, down to earth, realistically priced school within Adelaide from now on.. There are not many options left at PF now, those that are certainly are not cheap.

Such a shame if true.

Was a breath of fresh air walking into the office after spending most of my PPL to CPL flying in the sausage factory down the road.

Sad news indeed. Dave, although our dealings were short, I still loved hiring planes off you and having a good chin waggle while drinking all your coffee in the office - haha.
Most of your scholars have been very successful in the industry.
What's in store for you now pal?

I always liked the gentleman who usually answered the phone. Very polite with an air of old school formality about him. Saddened to hear of the closure. Incidentally does anybody know of any C182's for hire in the Adelaide region?

Mish from what i've been told a Gentleman who used to man the desk for Dave's school by the name of Roger is going to continue to run a hire and fly consortium there using the same fleet thereabouts, in the absence of the school. There should still be 182's available for H&F.

Being a rumour network, I heard a rumour that Helistar is buying out Forsyth to be run under the AOC at Para and MB with someone heading off to work for a certain nearby university
