IF ONLY......(Sigh...)

From today's AvWeb (USA) Business.......

" INDIANA SLASHES AVIATION TAXES
While other governments, including the current administration, are increasingly viewing aviation as a cash cow, the state of Indiana has slashed aviation-related taxes that will save some aircraft operators thousands of dollars a year. The legislature in Indianapolis has cut fuel taxes from 60 cents a gallon (based on current prices) to a 10-cent-a-gallon excise tax. Taxes on parts used in repairs and maintenance have also been eliminated. AOPA says the outcome came after a lobbying effort it supported involving the local aviation community. The group showed Indiana lawmakers how Maine had significantly improved its aviation industry by amending its aviation tax structure a few years ago. "...

Imagine....a 50C reduction in fuel excise......mind you, over there, that's per US gallon, but the principle is the same......

Sigh....

With any increase in aviation activity there is an increased risk of accidents.

I'm not sure this is a desirable poilicy outcome for the Minister.

NEXT!

"HB" I like yr way of thinking. I might lobby the useless current Govt to get them to enact a policy to stop producing cars, the less of them on the road the less accidents & the less time I have to endure en-route to anywhere!:-)

'Griffo' it's almost laughable to think that our Govt would lower anything as the only way for them is UP!
You can't have any industry (inc the car industry which is being propped up with MY money!) thriving these days here, that's UN- AUSTRALIAN!

Too TROO Wal,

The only 'industry' here is the concerted effort to keep on 'dumbing down' our kids, so that they will be able to be 'controlled', and fed that stuff that grows mushrooms.....

Yers all wrong!! The only industry doing well and, indeed, getting bigger and costing more to us is that which keeps politicians and bureaucrats in their jobs!!!

Australians have been conditioned over the years to not make a stand with all facets of Govt on these sorts of issues.

Getting angry and yelling seems to be our way as well as whinging to each other. Won't get results by doing that methinks!

Let's get AOPA/RAAA/RAAus etc etc to come on board with some facts and figures before the next election on how to save our industry and boost it...

I know, easy to say etc but tonight I wrote to AOPA and my local Federal member and attached the Indiana idea. If enough people rattle the can someone might take notice.

No harm in trying, so go for it!
