ATPL flight planning question

Hey guys quick question, for YAW DAMPNER FAILURE ops do you calculate a descent time/fuel/anm for the descent to a FL below FL300? In AFT it says you dont need to but im looking over some old notes from my flying school and they have done it... so im confused which would yeild the correct answer, yes its more accurate to calc a descent etc but is that how they want you to do it in the CASA exam???

thanks in advance

Have a look in the (somewhat out of date) CASA Exam Info Book.

It says (regarding 1-inop after engine failure) "the candidate may assume an "instantaneous descent" to the appropriate 1-INOP level". I'd do the same for any failure, do not plan the descent - and in real life, the descent saves you a little fuel so you've planned conservatively.

Good luck.
