Ramped - $2500
Heard about a person yesterday who was ramped at YSWH or YMIA by CASA recently. All was well except...
He needs reading glasses according to his medical. He was fined $2500 for not being able to produce his spare pair.
Is this typical?
In addition, what would have happened if he had said "these Are my spare pair! the other pair is somewhere on the tarmac"?

Yes – inaccurate rumours based on third hand hearsay are typical on PPRuNe.
Telling lies to avoid personal responsibility typically results in bigger trouble.
(By the way, IMHO any pilot who has to wear glasses and fails to carry a spare pair while flying is lucky to get away with a fine.)

The name of the person who allegedly copped this fine is known to me, as is the aircraft.
Is such a fine believable? Is this likely to be a CASA adminstrative manner or the result of a criminal conviction?
