"The State Flying Squad commenced operations on 26 January 2002 with seven officers.
The Squad targets significant increases in crime in certain geographic areas. It is highly mobile and is used throughout the State to assist local police. The Squad provides specialist investigative support to major investigations in Queensland. It investigates serious and major crime, supplements local resources and enhances the Service’s capacity to respond to major crime and criminal matters of high public interest."
