Flights for the asylum seekers?
Would anyone know who has the agreement/contract to transport the asylum seekers from Christmas Island to Malaysia and what aircraft they would use? With approximately 50 - 60 each time, an Bae146 could just be too small and an F100 just too big, are they going to wait to fill the plane before it goes? Or use one flight per boat load?

As for the mode of transport. You would have thought the back of a C130 would be the most sensible from a security perspective.

I think that to date, they've been using the A320 that does the Antarctic flights.
The problem is, that with all the protections the Australian/Malaysian agreement insists anyone returned to Malaysia must enjoy, it may well prove to be quite attractive to some.

Only time will tell until word gets out on the streets of Colombo, Kabul and Baghdad that you will only have a fleeting glimpse of the promised land before ending up in a Malaysian or other off shore camp for a year or two.

On the ABC news this morning.... the federal government has announced that the Immigration Dept will film the first batch of asylum seekers being loaded onto the flight back to Malaysia and post the film on YouTube "to deter other would-be refugees".
Hmmmm.....
Have I got this right? (It goes without saying) unwilling passengers..... a charter aircraft..... a(n officially provided) film crew.... the film to go on YouTube...... riiiiiight.
If they aren't drugged to their eyeballs, that should make for some award winning footage.
If there's one individual living outside the la-la land of makebelieve that Canberra has become who, after watching what this 'gummit' has (not) achieved since coming to power hasn't come to the conclusion that the inmates have taken over the asylum, this should convince them.
Spare a thought for the poor **** who'll be the captain on that flight.

Seems far more sensible to give the boat crews a handful of money and tell them to take them to Malasia, save a whole heap of money.
As far as the flights go, whoever is cheapest I suspect!
