OzRunways 2.whoa!
80% finished Debugging v2.8 now after feature freeze. Coming along fine. No promises (as usual we're always late), but **hopefully** by 28Jun12.
There are new maps (and some have been renamed) on 28th June so we'll either need to push out our new v2.8 or re-release an incremental v2.7.2.1 by then so you can see the new VNC's(Tassie) and TAC's (Karratha/Broome)

Grandpa Aerotart
I have limited issues when using on the iPad1... Only have issues on the 1 if I try and do lots of things quickly.
I am getting an IPAD 3 shortly...just for the better screen. The IPAD 1 will go to 'Golden Child MK2' with lots of games on. Little fcker is not 2 1/2 yet and he can already work the 1 enough to find and watch videos of Poppy in the 'Taimoff'

Chuckles - before you do that, put them up side by side and you might be surprised. Photos will look the same but the text will be a little clearer on the 3.
Did that myself and barely noticed a difference.

Correct - iPad2 & 3 look pretty similar. iPad2 actually runs faster as there's less images to load, and it's almost identical hardware. It would have been awesome if they had put a quad-core in the new one.

iThink
iThink .. the most benefit with apple products will be in alternating cycles
iPhone 3G to iPhone 4 to the next iphone
ipad2 to ipad 4th gen
even with macbook pro's every alternate release is a better bump in features and more value for money.
but hey .... i have seen hard core apple fans (moi-bitter half) bye every release and they also have prefect timings when it comes to pass on / gift / sell the old ones.

Finally New WAC's -- or a new way to make money & cut down trees.
some new WAC's coming out 1st July ... any updates with regards to that ?
the 28th June map updates - do they include the WAC updates or not ?

Note: There are 3 new VNC's (Deniliquin,Hobart,Launceston) & 2 new TAC's (and 3xTAC's have had a name change). TAC4 is now TAC6, TAC5 is now TAC4 and there's a new TAC5 Broome & Karratha. These maps are hard-coded in, so we'll be releasing an update (v2.7.2.1) on 28th so these new maps are available. Subsequent map name changes/additions will be better handled in v2.8 so this doesn't happen.
I haven't got access to the latest WAC yet (they will update half of Australia). What I'll do is make them live and any new downloads will include the new ones. I'll put in a facility in v2.8 (testing now) to delete the old WAC to make way for the new.

Hey guys,
First off, great app!
Is there a way to save the scratch pad?? did a couple of longer flights yesterday in which the app forced closed once (user error i think!)& crashed another time (gps had a hissy fit) but started up again all sweet, plan still there etc but it clears the scratch pad!
I think it would be useful if the scratch pad saved all entry's until the user deletes them, this way at least info won't be lost if the app crashes or force closes & also if I scribble something on it & then need it later it will still be there!
Cheers

For those who need the updated maps (TAC charts and the new VNC maps) - just download AvPlan - you can use it for a month for free.
(Yes I run the company that produce AvPlan - I didn't think that was a big secret..)

Yes Aimpoint, not the first time and agreed it should be in it's own thread.
On a brighter note I may have been privy to what is coming in the OZRunways latest version! Stay tuned for some impressive terrain features for starters. It's displayed in a way that I have not seen before on a GPS and is quite innovative in my opinion and quite dynamic (you'll know what I mean when you see it).

I for one applaud Avplan/Bevan666's post.
Avplan appears to be a worthy competitor for Ozrunways.
I have Ozrunways so I don't think I can be accused of bias.
Surely we all should applaud the existence of a competitor for Ozrunways, as a monopoly of one or other is not in the consumers interest.
So Bevan666, keep up the good work, and the same goes to the Ozrunways crew.
Also, good to see that Avplan have the new maps up so soon after they were released.

The WAC charts for Australia.... Is it 1 seamless digital version for Australia, or are the individual WACs scanned and 'stuck' together to form a near seamless WAC? (I would assume a digital version can automatically account for the mapping projection used)
I guess the quality has to be reduced to limit the file size and match the IPad capabilities, but I was hoping for a better quality image that can be zoomed whilst remaining sharp. (ESP with retina iPad)
Not that I am saying it's bad, just rather hoping it was better.
