Tactical Waypoint?
C705/11
AMD DAH DATED 18 NOVEMBER 2010 SECTION 22 AND ERSA DATED 10 MARCH
2011 SECTION GEN 'IFR WAYPOINTS'
WITH EFFECT FROM 1103091600 UTC (10 MARCH 2011):
DELETE SWITA/WPT
ADD NEW IFR TACTICAL WAYPOINT:
VITAA S35 02 57 E138 08 15
FROM 01 312336 TO PERM
Pleased to see they explain the time now in simple english, but does anyone know what a "TACTICAL WAYPOINT" might be?
Jepps define a waypont in - Introduction - Chart Glossary as " A specified geographical location used to define an area navigation route or the flight path of an aircraft employing area navigation".
Seems Airservices Australia have moved on from there?

A tactical waypoint (can be referred to as a floating waypoint) is one that is not part of an air route.
It will appear in databases (Jepp etc.) as a waypoint, and so is available to be flight planned and available to track to.
Quite a few of the waypoints used for flex tracks are this type.
In this case it is the entry point to one of the IFR training areas west of ADL.
