QF 747-400 at the Melbourne F1GP
I'd just like to say a big thanks to the 747 crew for putting on a great display at the GP. I haven't seen a big jet display like that since the Bicentennial @ Richmond.
In previous years, we only got one pass and that was it. This time we were treated to a mini flying display. About 4 passes in all and in different configs. Who needed the F/A-18? I wonder what the complaining residents thought of that monster flying over their houses!
Well done.

Nunc est bibendum
With Virgin now sponsoring the AFL they should have done a bit of ambush marketing and overflown the MCG where the Swans and Demons had just slogged it out.

I wonder if VB will have an a/c avail for a flyby on AFL Grand Final Day this year...doubt it!
I do recall a QF A380 doing a pass over the MCG last year (I was in a Richmond pub queue at the time).

The flyover is usually rpt flight with pax, thus the single overfly.
This 1 came from sydney (I saw on webtrack- around 4:45pm).
I've never seen a 747 with an AoB like that. Me thinks no fare paying pax on board for that stint.

Remember the Pt Cook Airshow back in the seventies, when the BA 747 did some runs over Pt Cook below 1000', full of passengers and the Captain chatting away to the public via the tower frequency patched to the PA. On completion, the aircraft departed for Singapore.
ATC were in a frenzy - a 747 OCTA full of fare paying pax
The airshow crowd were rapped!
Monday morning in Vic Tas region's office!!!
Thats the reason why the bit in AIP now that does not allow RPT aircraft (with pax on board) to be part of an airdisplay

Is there any truth to the old potential fable where a 747 early days did a fly-by of a light aircraft fly-in and flew so low that it sucked / blew over some light aircraft?
I've never seen a 747 with an AoB like that.
The Cathay A330 a few years back did a pretty impressive display at Pearce, full of punters, below 1000 ft!
In fact, it made Qantas doing orbits at about 2000 ft seem pretty bloody boring!
