didley squat asked....
There is NOTHING in Oz that is not taxed, even dinga's have a cumulative tax of around 38% of the 'sticker' price.
----------------------------
On a more serious note, Octane rating.
Wasn't the Merlin originally designed to run on about 80-85 octane of dubious quality? Prime candidate to run mogas if i ever saw one....the STC should be free!
soz can't help being jovial in a clearly serious comment.
So you are sayng thee are no taxes levivied on AVGAS in Australia ??

Impose taxes??
Does a one legged duck swim in circles???
Thieving bastards.
Jet A-1 is about $1 US everywhere I've been lately outside of Oz, yet it's only 10c cheaper then avgas here.
OK.....
Does a one legged duck need to compensate so as not to swim in circles?
Yes.
Happy?
No sense of humour, some people...........

ON my last bill:
Avgas 1.798
Excise Duty 0.03556
Then add GST on top of that.
comes to 201.69 cents per litre.
Plus of course the Location Specific Charging that we were told would replace the avgas levy.

Avgas is getting harder and harder to get here in Indo and the last 6 drums I bought it was approx. A$2.60 litre in 2010 at the Pertamina depot at Halim Airport in Jakarta , double the price of Avtur . Piston engine twins are all parked here and being sold off or already rotten as nobody uses them for charters anymore due to the logistics of getting avgas , it can take up to 2 months to get fuel delivered to some areas and the price can be $5 to $10 litre for remote areas by the time it's transported.
Flying schools are running on 75% auto fuel 25% avgas blend and there's been a lot of problems with auto fuel quality.
It's pricey in Oz but at least it's available

Carbon "price"
Just had a letter from my fuel supplier to say that due to the Carbon "Price" after 1 July "the rate of exise will increase from 3.556 to 8.61 cpl"
It's a price and an excise but not a tax, noooooo
