Work permit for UK Pilot in NZ
Hello,
Wonder if anyone can give me some advice. I am a UK passport holder with a NZ CPL Multi IR and looking at the option of flying in New Zealand again one of these days. Just wondered what charter operators think to employing a pilot without NZ residence. Do they help with getting a work permit underway or would they prefer you to have the permit before you get to New Zealand. Don't know what the job situation is like in NZ but looking for some charter/corporate flying. 3500tt, 200 sic multi jet, 1500 command single turboprop.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Get a WHV and try to find out someone who could sponsor you.
But do it as Flight Instructor.
I do not think that some airline/charter/regional airline sponsor the non resident pilot.
I'm looking for the same thing in Australia or New Zealand.

Highly unilkely that anyone would sponsor you, unless you work for free. Lots and lots of Kiwi pilots looking for gigs, not to mention Aussie freeloaders
Most smaller operations have dozens of applications on file from locals, all of whom are qualified. They aren't going to go to all the trouble of getting a work permit for a non-resident.
Best bet is to find yourself a nice friendly New Zealand girl and make her an offer she can't refuse...

Well, We all think Auzzie girls are a lot more friendlier and prettier. However, kiwi girls will dig your UK passport though. Dont you agree?

Ah yeah Bro, not laughed so much in weeks aye. So you fellas going to help me get a job in Aotearoa?
On the serious side I better get a work permit organised from Mud Island or residence if I am lucky enough to qualify.
Cheers for the info though everyone. Hope to get over to NZ one day soon and follow my dream of living and flying there.
Best Regards,
Mike
