Plane down in Northam, WA

Hi All,

Heard a C172 went down at Northam airport, WA a few days ago.

Can anyone shed some light on this? One person said it bounced on landing, someone else said it ran off the end of the runway (over shoot) and is now a write-off.

---- end of the runway and is now a right-off.

Probably the correct version is that it went right of the runway and is now a "write off", or maybe it did not go off the runway to the right, but at the end, the narrow end that is, but it is still a write off, anyways, does not sound good either way.

Its amazing how many incidents happen and you dont hear anything about it. Like the 210 up at Cape Leveque last month.

Yeah - like the turbine driver at Marree who bogged his plane & done the prop in. Gonna be a mighty expensive exercise getting that replaced!

Was it the same operator that wheels upped the Navajo or chieftain at the the same location a few months earlier.

Think the other well known operator

  • VH-KDS - crashed into Perth Hills a few months ago - 2 POB - Deceased
  • VH-FPP - Crashed at YPJT 2 months ago, student - ongoing back problems, instructor - Blind in one eye, never to fly again.
  • VH-JYW - Northam incident
I have heard SLX on the radio numerous times with "gear" problems

Chatting to one of their full-time staff at the derro club few days back, seems they have alot on their plate right now...ATO and workplace ombudsman asking questions. Plus loss of several contracts over the past few months.

I don't think so. There is an 8'x1'x200kg package containing a 4 blade variable pitch prop waiting to go to Marree when a carrier can be found to take it up there, so my best guess it's for a C208.
