I simply suggested a more accurate way to find out what's happening at the club is to go there and speak to people there.
What? You'd really expect a RACWA instructor in fear of keeping his/her job to tell you that the wheels are about to fall off?

Why is everyone attacking Nirak?

Maybe we should get back on topic.

I agree with nottoospicy, often in these cases the first the employees know is when they turn up to work and find a padlock on the door, or if they did see the writing on the wall they would possibly have a party line to follow.

So the rest of us can see what has been published by the President (so not a rumour) combine it with our own personal experiences of dealing with the RACWA dinosaur, add a few basic business principles and come to an informed opinion which we may chose to put here. If that is negative then the problem is with the dinosaur, not the poster. No need to get personal though.

Just because they have a picture of Her Madge on the wall doesn't make them anything special, I don't know why people are making such a big thing about it really. No room for sentiment in todays economic times. GA is survival of the fittest.

Let's hope Griffo is hinting that a white knight is charging toward RACWA with a bag full of gold.

If he is, and it happens, let's hope they make it conditional that the present committee resigns en mass and they are able to appoint a group of people with some talent who are capable of structuring the club properly.

What is there at the moment is a collection of doubtless well intentioned members, but entirely devoid of any vision whatsoever.

For goodness sake Mooney, the members voted them there only a few months ago! Give them a break. Did you put your hand up?

Who exactly do you think "they" are?

As I remember there was no contest for Pres. v-p. and Treasurer and only 5 nominations for 4 vacancies. Given the state of the finances is it really surprising there was no rush of successful entrepreneurial talent. Most of the membership who read and understand figures have got better things to do than get stressed out with trying to convince others (including the erstwhile CEO) of the need for strong decisive and unpopular remedies. The formally elected treasurer seems to have found that out very quickly and quit.
So now we have the strange position where the "Treasurer", the responsible officer under the A I Acts, was not duly elected by the membership, but has resigned anyway and is now running the show. Who is now the Treasurer???
WTF?

DAMouse - well said. That there was a dearth of members offering themselves up for election, says more about the membership than the committee. Thus there was no choice but to appoint those who put their hand up.

That said, the course of action that the committee has taken has SERIOUSLY compromised the yield from the sale of Murrayfield, of that there is no doubt.

Business Principles 1.01:- You don't flag your financial problems in the public domain, start to sack people and then expect vigorous competition for the sale of a key asset.

I hope there is a White Knight on the way, otherwise the asset will be frittered away at a firesale price. As for convicing the "erstwhile CEO" of the need for action, perhaps he could forsee the consequences of the strategy (if indeed there is one) that the committee was adopting and decided to bail. With what has transpired since, who could blame him?

And exactly what strong, decisive and unpopular remedies has the committee undertaken? Making a few people redundant? So bold, meaningful and inovative - fair takes your breath away doesn't it?

I hear the white knight fell off his horse outside TAC and is having a good look around. He probably feels there is more to gain throwing his sack of gold into TAC than RACWA. At least he can start with a clean slate.

Oh well, I'm sure there will be another generous benefactor, who trained at RACWA and owes a lifetime ofgratitude to the club and willing to throw a couple of $M into the bottomless bucket.

BTW - glad to see everyone has backed off Nirak

enough is enough

ok,

Im a past instructor, and currently an active member....
I have watched for the past few years how things have evolved at Racwa.

Firstly...
To anyone on here who has been making poor comments on my previous collegues and friends. STOP AND THINK.. The Instructors of RACWA are of the most profesional anywhere in Australia.. They have trained hard.. And in many cases harder then those of you making these comments.. Also they where once you as well... Struggling over flight tests and exams, having to pay their way to get to the positions they are in now..

With the current situation they face now upon possible retrenchment... the stress they are under is phonomenal.. and it is admirable that dispite how the commitee is treating them.. they turn up everyday hiding that stress and continuing to do their best to make sure you gain the best of your training..

You dont know the pain they go thru, Instructing is not easy.. we live for you guys.. when we come home all we think about is how we can work harder to help you... SO GIVE THEM A BREAK..

Secondly.....

the Committee,
they are not acting in the best interest that is OBVIOUS..
but they are dealing with the poor management of a previous CEO (AH), President (JG), and deputy CEO (LG)...

these three people deserve to be held fully accountable for what they have done.... The committee now is not accountable, but agree they are not handling things well...

WAAC (which i attended) should not go.. for one how do I progress in my career without an evident training facility existing.. And whats the biggest draw card.. (Commercial Training) without that haha, there is difinatly no future direction for the club... Plus the majority of the young Students there are the clubs most dedicated members.. and most loyal, hence why many of them become our instructors... THEY ARE THE CLUBS FUTURE...

but everyone stop the rumours, stop the stupid remarks, and comments. and heresay.. WE ALL WANT RACWA TO STAY....

Im a member, and RACWA is my second home. All the people there are my FAMILY..

Please just let things run its course...

Is it true that RACWA's bank is going there today for the D'Day meeting? Someone who knows more please tell all. Will they be trading tomorrow?

I was trained in RACWA and I have to say I have absolutely no issue with the quality of instructing there. I cannot say the same for the quality and competency of management though. If RACWA really folds up, it's the management's doing for mismanaging the whole situation.

To the guys who has copied my name....

"The Instructors of RACWA are of the most profesional anywhere in Australia.."

This sums up the attitude of some (not all) of them there pretty well. ie they are all legends within those four walls, (never having ventured elsewhere)considering ALL others inferior...which would be very patronising and insulting if it wasn't so ridiculous.... but can't even spell professional.

Instructing is a job, a vocation, a career in itself. If it has involved a lot of struggle and the training is so hard, then maybe, just maybe, it's not the right job for those people? There are plenty of professional pilots who have done all their theory by self study, WAAC is just one way of furthering your career.

Every flying school I have been involved with says the same thing about their product, their instructors and their school in general.

I suppose it's like driving. Everyone thinks they are a good driver. We can't all be good drivers, just like we can't all be good Pilots. I think however EVERYBODY, has the ability to be a smart Pilot. I suppose this is the fundamental principal of CRM.

I believe what makes a good school is the culture from the top. The good schools encourage and help. They also build and grow their staff and students. Basically, they invest in their people. The bad ones discourage and block/prevent your progression. They try to keep you in your box to keep their own world tidy. I believe it's better to pop the lid and see what you can do and mentor you on your journey.

As for RACWA, well I have said it before, and I'll say it again - they are the most naive bunch of Pilots I have come across. They mean well, and they are very good at what they do. Unfortunately the product they produce is a private Pilot that can fly to the CPL standard. It takes a fair whack in the noggin to drum the club out of them. "At RACWA we did it like this" Another problem is they won't listen, and label anyone a cowboy who does not comply with their idea of doing things. What ever happened to critical thought? Being open to new ideas? Wanting to improve how you see and do things, rather than clinging to archaic beliefs and perpetuated myths?

Having said that, they give a good foundation to grow from - just like every other flying school in Australia.

I believe very strongly that you as a Pilot, are a direct product of your mentors. The more mentors you have and the more exposure you have - the better, smarter Pilot you become.

This is also why cadet schemes are dangerous. They try to replace experience with so called 'good training'. What a Pilot really needs is 'good training' AND 'good experience'. They both go hand in hand.

GG

And? ...I will still never pay to fly there again... and i'm sure many ex-students are the same, may be clear of the trees for the moment but im expecting some reduced cash flow to RACWA after all their students have gone elsewhere... time will tell

This whole threads smacks of tall poppy syndrome a little bit. I am sure there are people who have had bad experiences at the other schools along the strip. I mean really, who can please all the people all of the time. It just takes a personality clash. Should we start a thread up about each flying school?

Is it because they are the biggest that everyone seems to hate them. Whether you choose to fly there or not, what is to be gained if they fail?

I am not associated with the club anymore but it would be a loss for Jandakot if the were to shut, just as it would be a loss if Air Australia, Minovation, ACFT and any other school there were to close down.

I wish all the flying schools at Jandakot the best for the future!

Clare luv - great story. We've heard it all before. Committe this, committee that..All trying but gaining no traction. No one to blame etc etc. Thats bull. you know it, we all know it. Someone must be responsible and accountable. Yes instructng is a skill. vIts a talent. But how mainy of the racwa instructors are really instructors. All too man of them are there as we allknow to build hours. They are not instructors, it is a cheap way to build hours. Lets not loose sight of this. THEY ARE NOT PROFFEIONAL INSTRUCTORS, THEY ARE THEIR TO BULK BUILD HOURS. Apologies....there are some proffessional instructors who bolster the club. Many excellent instructors lie WB, MP, RW etc. But where are they now ????

Flying Monkey. I reckon you are spot on. Trained at RACWA, fly at RACWA. Did RACWA gove you a job. A real job ??? No probably not....so go out in the real world, face off with non-RACWA tained pilt sand see how you fair. Dont comment until you have a handle on an industry standard. And.....should you still come back with the same views then i can only say you have been short changed.

Green Goblin - double thumbs up dude !

Hey did anyone see the freebie RACWA is advertising in order to drum up some interest in flying trianing. Works for me. It clearly stated flying training. not sure of they meant ab-initio or maybe i could out that towards my MECIR ???

So, the club got rid of its debt, I assume ?

Where does that put the instructors that were laid off ?

Racwa has / had a cashflow problem but was never declared insolvent.

Where does that put WAAC ? Ops normal ?

Well maybe who knows. The committee wont tell us...or maybe they did via ChrisH ?? Hmmmm thinking thinking.....

So how does one get rid of its debts. Buggered if I know. I'm just a dumb-hick driver with a PPL who keeps re-mortgaging the house everytime my sweetheart wants a new something. Shhh, she doesn't know how much i have poured into RACWA

So did they sell off Murryfield ?. Can be the only solution i think. Steal from Peter to pay Paul. But ...Peter was a prick and so good to get rid of him !

Maybe they sold WAAC ? Nirak, sorry mate. yuo ma have to pay another $20K to stay enrolled.

Maybe...a rich and powerful white night rode in on his white Cirrus and said...."playyyy the best song in the world..."

Long live, RACWA !
