Question Collection of airframes near Charlton, Vic

Driving up the Calder Hwy recently I saw a house just north of Charlton with a collection of 'older' airframes behind it. Some of the airframes looked like a wingless Nomad, one (maybe two) Doves, a variety of other bits & pieces and what appeared to be a larger all white fuselage - an ex-AN F28??

Just curious ...anyone have info on who, what and why ??

More info: the place is call Teddywaddy, about 8km out of Charlton on the way to Wycheproof. Took some pics on the mobile today.

Previously FKD ?? (some would say it really is now )

Looks like a DC-3 cockpit section in far shed.

Heard a rumour a few months ago that someone was going to open an aviation museum near Charlton but was unable to find out any more info.

Future beer cans?

Surely all that old aluminum could be put to a better use.

Like most of all the old things we have to get of the ground.

God I nearly died when I saw old 'ABM' (DH104)...............it doesn't look any diff to when I last flew it!!!! I recall seeing that Dove on Ebay some time ago for around $15K. I think the seller might have had about 3 zero's too many on the asking price
Have may fond (well maybe not fond) hrs in that old girl as well as NBM, another Dove that died a sad death up at Wallan Nth of Melb (now houses!)

Perhaps the start of our own desert scrap yard?

"OC" how could it not! A doz Japs on board all with cameras flashing away as we orbit the CBD at night coming home from the Is. still lingers in my mind. Despite telling them that a flash is useless they had a ball anyway. Mostly film cameras back then so getting back to Jap land to find a whole lot of bright spotted pix would have been devastating for them:-) Mostly honeymooners, sh1t to spend yr honeymoon in a Dove...............yeah well I guess marriage itself is just as risky
Funny story. One night whilst flying around in circles over the CBD dodging many others 'Duck Run' planes I had a young Jap girl up front beside me she leaned right over across me (not entirely unliked I might add) & took a flash pretty much right next to my face, happened in an instant. I found out that the dove flies itself for quite some time with no input from the now 'startled rabbit' faced pilot!!!!!

Wmk2..................slipping back to the good 'ole days

The Nomad looks like WRT from Sydney Skydive, which I think was ex Sunstate.

I find it interesting that anybody should find this collection of some interest due to its age, seeing as how most of the junk flown in GA ops is of this era to this very day. Most of you GA guys are flying stuff that should have been scrapped 20 years ago, and the manufacturer thought would be.

VH-ABM (c/n 04097) is a Riley 400 and belongs to the Arnold Aviation Museum.

I logged quite a few jumps out of WRT before they scrapped it. The white powdery corrosion was bubbling away under the paint something chronic. Always glad I had two serviceable parachutes on whenever I was in that one!

G'Day 'yowieII'

I think old NBM ended at MB museum?? I know she stood out in the elements for ages at Wallan looking very unloved
Yr right 'NF2" both ABM & NBM where Riley jobs (NBM also had a "Cessna" type Vert fin), slamming the pwr leavers to the firewall on T/off saw the FF's go off the scale!!!! Had no idea what FF they had :-)

Not too sure about DTZ I have no idea really, maybe broken up & scrapped or used for sheeties to practice on? Another sad end but like RIX another old Q I used to fly (in fact SN 00001 I think the very frst 'Q' which had no omni-vision window) that airframe was derelict at WGT for years they all find undignified ends. As they say 'years shall not weary them' but sheeeez they sure do fall in a heap after yrs!!!
