Virgin Blue hiring
Paul,
I feel your pain, had the same thing happen to me many moons ago. Sometimes it's a change in HR or policy that can be frustrating and as a result you get held out to dry.
I can't speak for Virgin recruitment but I hope you persevere and we all find our happy medium in aviation employment.

Sounds like you all turned down the SO and FO positions advertised! I understand where you're coming from, but that was your option into the said retirement airline. Should have, could have, would have, heard it all before. In the end if you were offered something and didn't take it for whatever reason then that's your choice.

I sympathise with those who were asked to reapply, however as I understand it, everyone on the hold was given the option of being considered for 777 or 737 NZ positions. At least everyone I know was. A lot of people must have said no as they are now interviewing for said positions.
Yes it sucks as we all wanted domestic positions, but "a bird in the hand".....
Good luck to everyone going through the interview process! Hopefully you won't have to wait as long as we did

is this a rumour mill?
Heard an interesting rumour but from a very reliable source who would know (no not the Townsville refuellers wifes best friends dog) that later this year recruitment will be for domestic 73 and ejet as not enough eligible within 777 or vanz and atr guys being witheld from transferring. Not knowing who is and isnt eligible I obviously have no idea. Thought this was interesting all the same and maybe ppl who actually work for virgin can better comment.?

Happy Bandit,
I'm no longer in Oz so I'm a bit out of the loop, but you mentioned that there are not enough eligible SO's to transfer to domestic fleet.
Eligible?
I would imagine that the vast majority of SO's who joined in the past few years came from multi crew turbo prop operations and would most certainly be eligible fro domestic fleet and the ones from GA pistons would have certainly served enough time as an SO to be able to move across to domestic.
Or do you mean "eligible" in terms of type freeze, bonding to aircraft type etc etc?
Eternity.

How many people got the somewhat odd "congratulations, you've got an interview! It's scheduled for 10 days from now. We'll send you an invitation... But get in quick because spaces are limited 😒"
It would be nice to have a little time to organise flights to Bris, hotels, cars etc so I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been any invitation forthcoming

What are they interviewing for? I thought the 777 and VANZ spots were done and dusted? Although I know quiet a few still have not heard bopeep either way. This is starting to sound familiar :-)
They will be continuously interviewing throughout the year for VAI B777SO and VANZ B737FO. They have interviewed recently, they are currently interviewing and they have further interviews coming up. Soon the new selection process will be implemented. Most of the candidates are turboprop captains and FO's with around 3000 hours minimum. I believe current VANZ vacancies have been filled but B777 vacancies and numbers are still being finalised.
