'10' in plane trouble over Sydney today
HOLLYWOOD star Bo Derek was involved in mid-air emergency above Sydney today.
The actress and former Playboy cover girl was on board a Rex charter propeller jet visiting the Hunter Valley for a tour of horse studs when one of two engines on her plane failed.
The plane spent 20 minutes circling Sydney and dumping fuel and passengers were braced for a crash landing before successfully touching down at Sydney's Mascot Airport.
Derek, 53, is in Sydney for the Asian Racing Conference and was visiting horse studs near Scone as a guest of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia chief executive Peter McGauran.
"Ms Derek has remained composed and controlled throughout he ordeal and provided support for her fellow passengers in this crisis,'' Mr McGauran said.
Love the bit about dumping fuel!

All A/C have the ability to dump fuel 'Ultra' just some do it 'thru' the engines first then it gets converted into a gas where it self dumps
Wmk2, sober too!

The major airport in Sydney has been referred to as "Mascot" for as long as I can remember. It was its initial name when established in 1919, then became "Sydney" 1920, and "Kingsford Smith" 1953. Don't think I've personally heard any aviator call it "Kingsford Smith", always "Mascot". Up until WWII at least, the airport was identified by the name "Mascot" painted on a hangar roof.
This Donkey?

ahh the reporting...just happened to walk past the tv on my way to make coffee abt 2 mins ago and watched good ole Nat (Ch 7) reporting on the 'mysterious white powder found on board a Virgin Blue 737'...then they cut to a pic of a (shortened) 737 which looked suspiciously like an Embraer - but hey, what do I know right? They're on national TV so THEY must be right.
Bit hard to tell in that second photo where the horse's mane finishes and the other bit of fluff begins...I guess it was the 80s after all!
