Hail Damage

Any updates on hail damage to aircaft at Essendon or Moorabbin?

The hail track for this storm was amazingly wide and spread for such large hail stones.

What a storm!

My best guess would be that there was no damage to aircraft at Moorabbin. I live near there and we didn't get hit hard. Most damage was more towards the CBD, north west and north east. Essendon may have copped a spray and if they did Tulla would have had some serious issues but it didn't seem to make the news.

Wonder how an A380 would fair against a 747...

Now Bevan, Don't be harsh. Of course Chuckles would get it finished.......just in time for his Grandson's 21st I should imagine.

RUDE FCKERS!!!!!

Actually a hail damaged A36 was in the Flinders hangar a while back - re-skined upper wings and some of the upper fuse (she was parked when it happened not flying) and away she went good as new.

After a windshield breaking pelting of my steel-skinned car in Colorado two years ago, I learned to put ice cubes in the dents asap, and they will pull out. Dry ice is even better. The challenge is keeping the cube from sliding away.

The steel takes a set after about a week. Dunno how it will work on aly.

...still took long enough that the owner came to us and got a Baron endorsement so he could hire that instead

The Bonza came back looking great and will arrive on Weds I think with a new Garmin stack as well.

Angry

No, Goblin, I've never ever watched McGuyver. It cost $200 US for a new windshield in my Ford minivan, and I got some of the dimples out with dry ice. Would have been better if I had learned about the ice sooner. Steel does have a memory of sorts. Aly is more prone to stretch.
