Non-Initial Multi Endorsement Q

I have spent a little while searching to find out the requirements for a secondary turbine and/or piston rating. CAAP 5.23-2 seems to cover initial requirements, and CAO40.1.0 Appendix III covers endorsements for Part 3 and Part 5 of the Appendix IA, Parts 4 and 6 are covered by Appendix V.

What happens for the aircraft under Part 1 if you already have all applicable design feature endorsements but have not yet flown that type aircraft? Looking for both time requirements and also if there are any special inflight requirments such as V1 cuts and Night Circuits. Sorry in advance if it is staring me straight in the face but I am unable to see it.

Cheers,
SO

If it is a multi or turbine you will need an endorsement for that particular aircraft or series. 1 hour is the minimum i believe for a non initial.

CAO 40.1 is a very well written document and I'm suprised you cant find the info... but seriously,

Part 1 of Apendix 1 aircraft is covered in 6.1

6 Requirements for issue of type endorsements
6.1 For the purposes of subregulation 5.23 (1), the requirements for the issue of a type
endorsement specified in Part 1 of Appendix I are:
(a) the person seeking the endorsement must:
(i) hold a student pilot licence, an aeroplane pilot licence, a special pilot
licence, or a certificate of validation that has effect as if it were an aeroplane
pilot licence; and
(ii) undertake training in the operating limitations, procedures and systems of
the type of aeroplane for which the endorsement is sought; and
(iii) undertake flying training, or training in an approved synthetic flight trainer
appropriate to the type of aeroplane, in normal and emergency flight
manoeuvres and procedures in that type of aeroplane; and
(iv) satisfy the person who conducted the training mentioned in
sub-subparagraphs (ii) and (iii) that the first-mentioned person can safely fly
that type of aeroplane;

The key points are (ii) undertake training... and (iv) Satisfy the person conducting the training.

As far as a syllabus goes, there is a from which doesn't have a number titled "Application for an initial multi-engine Endorsement or Type Endorsement" that has a list of items to be covered the for Multi Piston, Multi Turboprop and Multi Jet.

From the Multi Piston part the items are
1 Theory Questionnaire
2 W&B Calc
3 Normal T/O and Climb
4 CCT an full stop landing (including X wind)
5 Accelerate Stop with engine failure
6 Clean Stall with AP engaged - disengage and recover
7 Landing Config Stall
8 Runaway Trim
9 TO with engine failure during climbout
10 Assymetric go around
11 Full Stop landing with one inop
12 Use aircraft systems
13 Emerg decent (if pressurised)
And by Night
14 Normal TO, CCT and Go Around
15 Full stop landing
Instrument flight
16 Approach to MDA/DH and missed app
17 Circling App
18 Approach to MDA/DH and missed app with one inop
19 Circling App with one inop

The form also states that "the flight tester may examine all or any of the items, but MUST conduct items 9,10 and 11."

I examine items 1 - 12 on every endorsement and leave the night and IFR to be conducted under company ICUS.

As far as hours goes to get through all of that will take between 1.6 - 2.8 hrs depending on the student. I have heard rumours that CASA licensing centre have started questioning endorsements that are less than 2 hours.

Hope this helps

Ted
