Caribou over Melbourne
Saw a Caribou orbiting the city centre at lunchtime today - was it a farewell flight? I thought they'd already been retired?

A sad day for the RAAF. Given the capabilities, and the inability to find a suitable replacement (and I mean proper replacement, not bit part players) I can't help but imagine the cost/difficulty would be of rebuilding/re-commencing production. Given todays technological advances, the improvements that could be made to an already outstanding machine would be huge.
But these decisions are made by people with far greater knowledge than people like us.
A very resourceful aircraft.

Saw three in formation fly past the bne control tower the other day at low level. Was an awesome sight, just wish I could have heard the noise!
Trojan how the hell did you fly seven at once??
Touche,
I wish I was flying even one of them. I was on the ramp of one (275 I think) taking in the sights. I think it was Ex 'Blue Moose' in about September/October 2001 at Tin Can Bay.

I used to like flying in the back of the Bou and receiving my "disturbance allowance" in my next pay packet. I wonder if the Govt still pay that allowance for "pain and suffering" in the back of the Hercs etc.

Maybe ..... if you had another 8 of them .... and they weren't busy in the sandpit for the next 5 years.
I hope the same people who killed the Bou 2 years too early are the ones who have to face the government of the day to explain why they don't have an option for some of the things that have come up in the past and will again in the future.
