Essendon or Moorabbin for CPL?

Essendon or Moorabbin for CPL?
Ive decided to leave my over priced school (wont mention names) and Im looking for another.
Any suggestions???
I got my PPL at a school at Moorabbin so wouldnt mind doing my CPL flying from there but Essendon is a lot closer to my house.
Are there any students out there that are learning at Essendon or Moorabbin and have you any advice you can give me?
At Essendon im looking at Pearson, Interair and National.
At Moorabbin im looking at MFT, MFS and moorabbin aviation services.
Sick of this!

I can vouch for a few of the MFS guys, good pilots, good instructors with real world experience.
Be careful of the essendon schools, have a habbit of pissing off good pilots or are very expensive. That said its for your CPL so there's only 5-7 flights and landing fee's and air services fees are very similar everywhere (becuase you're going to end up going through EN most flights anyway).
I did have a mate leave EN recently (who lives near Altona) to fly at MB for the above reasons. Its not that far really. It takes me 20 mins to get from Brighton/Moorabbin to EN (with time for a quick breaky at Macca's on the way).

Really?
Possibly true if you're leaving GFS to go straight into an airline.
If, however, you're going to go into the vast world of Australian GA that operates OUTSIDE of the MB training area prior to your entry to an airline then there are better places to learn, IMHO!

having done my private licence in rural victoria I was told you'd be best going to melbourne by a melbourne flying trng org for the appreciation of controlled airspace. Now on reflection I was wrong in thinking that a flash city flying school would give me a better flying education. A small flying school with only one or two instructors can often offer a better focus where the people employed are really wanting the best out of the student, as opposed to another hour in the log book and another step closer to that airline position.
Look a little further afield and you may get a better product. I did my private licence in Benalla at Skyways and they were excellent. I then went to Moorabin and found the instructors great blokes but missed out on the focus I would have received elsewhere.

This is a slight thread drift, but when it comes to doing an MECIR, Essendon is not much more expensive than Moorabbin.
If you were to do the MECIR from Moorabbin, you'd be paying for an EN ILS and missed approach which is $35. If you do your MECIR training at Essendon, the ILS approach and landing is included in the $60 landing fee. Factoring in the landing fee at MB, then this is only a difference of $15. Plus you get to do a practice ILS everytime you come home from your IFR Navex.
My advice to Essendon based flying schools is to market themselves as the place in Melbourne for MECIR training.
BTW, there used to be a few schools based at Pt Cook a few years ago. I'm not sure whether this is still the case, but if so, they may be worth looking at as well.

I was at National good school but aircraft are old and the fees are high because of the YMEN fees. Moved to MFS, not looked back. New aircraft, 3 PA28's with glass 3 with steam, 2 Archers both glass i think. Two are brand new!!!
Great instructors and great owner who really does care about his students. If you went to MFS like me you wouldn't look back.

Yes, I have to agree about MFS. I have friends who've trained there and they speak very highly of the place. Good instructors, brand new aircraft and the boss is a great guy.

I have completed about half of my CPL training at Essendon and the additional cost add up quickly - I'm now shopping at Moorabin to move for the rest of the training.
Also had to change instructors partway through - situation not ideal although this worked out for the better - also got mucked around with getting recommeded to purchase materials that were not required..

MFS is the way to go. I did all my training there and could not fault them. I only wish they had the new planes when I was learning there then instructing there.
AJ & GS are two of the nicest blokes going round in GA and are a pleasure to fly with and learn from.
