I'm sold.
Objective: "Let's make a video that will make every pilot and non pilot that watches it want to beg borrow or steal to get to Oshkosh."
Mission accomplished...

Oshkosh is to aviators as the Haj is to our Muslim brothers - you have to do it once in your lifetime.
If you do decide to go, it's important to book early, as the Oshkosh hotels demand a minimum stay of 4-5 days, but you need to visit about 3 days as a minimum anyway. I tried to book for Oshkosh 2009 in February, and the closest I could get was in Green Bay, about 50 min to the North.
There's dormitory style accommodation at the University (or College) which is cheaper, more flexible, and usually available at shorter notice.
The EAA Airventure website has all the links.

Owen, it seems we have the same taste in beer
Another good European thirst-quencher in Brisbane is the Belgian Beer Cafe in the city, pricy, but they have a superb Leffe (try the dark one) on tap.. yum!
Bottled imported European beers seems to suffer in transit, I've tried a fair few of them and they all don't quite do it for me.
LOVE the vid, maybe next year..

Chuck...You and me both!!! The video emphasises that "Nowhere else on earth" could you get to see so much in one spot...it's a pity that the National Air Races at Reno aren't closer both in time and space to AirVenture!!! If you were going to one you'd be remiss not to attempt to get to the other as well
Very cool vid, and will have to try to get there next year.
Is there anything in Europe (or anywhere else) that would compare, or is Oshkosh really the best show by far?
As an aside, and not wishing to knock a great piece too much, why is it that every aviation related video on youtube (or wherever) seems to have ridiculous annoying music drowning out the glorious sounds of the various aircraft?
I for one would much rather listen to the Merlin or a radial or even the jets than some token song. If I want to listen to music I'll turn on the radio.
But when aircraft are flying by I want to listen to the music of their engines!
It would increase the enjoyment of watching tenfold.

An airworthy full-scale replica of the DH.88 Comet was built in 1993 by Thomas W.Wathen of Santa Barbara, California. N88XD flies wearing the full colours and registration of G-ACSS 'Grosvenor House'. Another example is under construction by the Croydon Aircraft Company at Old Mandeville Airfield, New Zealand. Must be nice to have money. Highly recommend a visit to Mandeville, they specialise in DH aircraft and will give a most comprehensive guided tour at the drop of a hat, even if you walk in off the street. Like walking into the Hatfield factory circa 1930.
