Mitchellis do great pizza, but it's only pizza after all...
2nd vote for the Beachfront - usually good, and reasonable price (for Darwin).
The Parap Tavern has a pretty good steak joint, and Hoggies on Mitchell St too if that's your thing.
Kitty's at the top of town is alright.

Big Boy Thai at Mascot in Sydney.
A great Chicken Panang and a bottle of Red from the Mascot bottlo which closes at 7pm on sunday's by the way. They sell clean for skins, but I highly recommend a Leeuwin Estate Prelude red. ($29.95, but no headache)
For most it calms the pre-sim nerves or is a great way to wind down after sim.

Darwhine: Buzz Cafe @ Cullen Bay has served me with the best barra feed I've tasted for a long while. Awesome atmosphere for dinner, overlooking the water. Mens toilets are also recommended for a laught
For breakfast, the Banyan Tree Cafe does a pretty mean, cheap feed. They are in the mall area on Mitchell St, right behind the Mantra on the Esplanade. Not overly extravagent but an awesome place for a decent greasy breakfast after a night at Discovery

Forest- Seem to recall a very nice restaurant just a short walk from the airport and shorter walk from the railway. Meals are fantastic, beers always cold and the hospitality second to none

About 15 nm south of Washing machine corner, the camp cook was Ivan, Egg and Bacon sangas, and steak sangas 51/2 star, hot and waiting for you when you landed. apart from that -

Darwin- Check into your over priced hotel room, get the in house mag and stare at the picture of a rib eye fillet from (supposedly) a very good resteraunt. Then pull down your pants and lick your own butt. Best and freshest thing you will taste in darwin.

For the GA guys out there, if ever in normanton fnq, try stay at a hotel directly in line with the runway, cant remember the name but when i asked where it was i was simply told that if you were to have an engine failure on take off, this is where you would end up. Best garlic prawns i have ever had, the apprentice and i asked the lady that ran the place if she minded that we licked the plates clean, apparently she got that a bit. Just dont turn down a fully cooked breakfast, she gets a little offended

Little Singapore at Sunnybank (south side, closer to archerfield) for mind blowing asian food!
Off The Wall Cafe, Wellington Pt for the HOTTEST burger EVER... you have to sign a waiver and wear surgical gloves.... its so hot you'd want to apply vaseline before going to the loo!

Karumba - The best fish and chips in the whole wide world.
Cairns - Perotta's for the best pop corn calamari ever it is to kill for and if you like vegetarian the Hari krishner place near Rustys markets is good if the Chef decides to turn up for work. Also the Bayleaf for Balinese is good value they also have a good vegetarian choice, for all us non red meat eaters.

Leave it to a pilot to think of this to get the most out of his/her flight manual. And who knew hotel clothes irons were good for something besides making dark streaks on white clothes!
INSTRUCTIONS:
PLACE inverted IRON in the JEPP BINDER RINGS (see below)
PREHEAT iron on HIGH for 5 minutes
To steam vegetables, you must put in water and use manual sprayer
It usually takes less than 10 minutes to steam....
Hamburgers, steaks and small PIZZA can be placed DIRECTLY on the IRON FACE
Use IRONING BOARD with towel tablecloth if entertaining guests.
Do NOT use HOTEL Drinking glasses.
Plastic cups may be obtained from galley 2.
For CUBAN SANDWICHES obtain another TOP IRON for steaming and pressing.
