Australia Hotel, Boulia
Absolutely no argument from me Peter!
I actually miss the place!!

Port Augusta; The Standpipe Motel. Very good and reasonably priced Indian Cuisine.

"Having waited for over an hour and a half for our meals at the faux Irish pub (and watching everyone else get served, while the waitress resolutely refused to make eye contact) we moved on to the only remaining dining facillity in town.

My 7' tall co-pilot took the double bed in the onsite cabin we were sharing; there were no blankets available in said cabin; Co-pilot thought he was dying at 2 am and (very noisily) thumped around, got a cab and went to the hospital. "

That particular Pub needed Gordon Ramsay. Whatever happend to the good old 500gm rump steak and chips. Since when do the country folk eat frog legs in garlic butter b***sh*t. Slightly pink in the middle - mouth watering thinking about it. (Wheres the missus better get her to cook me a steak for dinner)

Horatio for your info, Your said 7ft tall (Actually 6' 4") was offered the double bed by a much more shorter and fatter Captain, who should have easily fitted into the single. If you wanted to come into the double and share all you had to do was ask.

Must have been that KFC.

Copilot's whinging would have been unbearable.... and singles were only 6' long anyway.

...and FATTER???

Will have to do a BMI comparison next time I am in your neighbourhood, tiger

...OK... quick calcs suggest your BMI is 34 and mine is a sprightly 29.1.

Over to you... "Slim"....

Easy old fella!

BMI has been proven to be innaccurate. If you have muscles then it is innaccurate.

Besides I worked hard to get like that. had to pay for it twice over!

It was a cold night so spooning was an option to keep warm!

Darwhine Hotel was removed by the midnight demolition team in sept 1999.

There are plans to re-create its "atmosphere" in a boozer/restaurant project in the the old Comm Bank building
How they will do that without the dear old "Queen Mum" (Peter Morgan) pestering the patrons, we shall see.

Up in Darwin there is a good restaurant called the Jetty, down at the Jetty. Great food and even better value!

Whereabouts in Cairns on a Monday night is there some good entertainment? At least I think it is a Monday, maybe I'm wrong.

Darwin

The Saffron Indian in Parap is very good. The salmon curry is the best fish curry I've had in Oz.
Uno Italian / pizza in darwin also good.

Mindil beach market has lots of ethnic foods but mostly pretty ordinary.
