Inevitable

Todays 25 year old is tomorrows 55 year old.
It seems that each new generation feels compelled to denigrate the older generation.
It also appears to be a western society phenomenon.
Just because someone is older it is not an indication that they are less competent.Quite the contrary.
What do young people create?
What do young people invent?
It is only as an individual gets older and more experienced that opportunities and knowledge to create and invent become apparent.
Each group makes its own contributions to society. Why then is it necessary for one group to demean the other?
Fat bellies, cellulite and hair loss can be indications of age.
These undesirable physical changes can also occur in our youth.
None of us is going to stay 25 forever.
For a company to target an older demographic perhaps requires some legal recourse

Be careful there capt.cynical.....Someone else posted that same point and suggested that everyone put on the act and look gay to keep their jobs.

The post had disappeared the next day so it appears to have been deleted....Big Brother strikes again...
The majority of Qantas CC are young, single and female.
Hell no! ........... [not what I have seen]
OK Skystar, was this because you saw the crew bus when you were riding around Perth on your police pushbike....

I disagree, you are at your intellectual optimum at the age of 28 where most ground breaking theorys in science physics/mathmatics and the arts are discovered. Unfortunatly you will spend the rest of your life trying to prove it.

Targeting Sick Leave

The Visitors are now targeting sick leave. Here they tread a fine line.Sick leave is a right. It is between you and your health professional as to your ailments. It borders on harrassment.
Apparently it is part of their KPIs to give out Sick Leave "heads up we are watching you"
Qantas invented Big Brother and has turned it into an art form

Sick leave is a right
A right? Wrong. The concept was originally a privilege but founf its way into awards etc so that it became an entitlement when an employee was ill. There are many in Australia in 2007 who do not enjoy this so-called right. That said, there are plenty of workers who abuse sick leave and if an employer wants to put a stop to anu rorting, they should be able to use whatever means are available to it to do so. The state of an employees health is ,ore than a matter between the employee and his/her medical adviser,

Ken, if it is in my award, and I am entitled to it, then I consider it rightfully mine to use. You sound so much like a (mis)manager I know who once had a pink fluorescent 'word art' banner above her workstation that read: 'Now targeting: SICK LEAVE'.

It is no longer a privilege to have sick leave.

If you are not getting sick leave, find a better employer.

ALSO, since when were DJ crew all pretty young things parading up and down a catwalk. I suspect some of you have not flown DJ in a few years. The ages, shapes, styles and genders in the cabin are VERY different now.

I've worked at both - to be honest every person walks out of training, factory set to a consistent standard of service and safety knowledge and ability. How well that person takes to the sky is soley dependent on their 'life experience' and 'people skills', and safe to say that in real emergencies or in situations involving physically aggressive passengers, the better results tend to come from those more seasoned 'hags' and all us 'elton john wannabes' you so lovingly refer to.
