I know 3 guys that came straight out of flying school did one year with SolAir one is flying F/O B737NG and two are flying F/O dash8s,like I said before this never happen back in my days. Look at it this way if it comes down to a C-206,C-310 or a piper seneca pilot doing bush flying in aussie or fish spotting on a C-172 in NZ and a guy that is been doing RPT flight on turbine, who do you think the hiring panel will go for? I say go for it, get out of your comfort zone and go learn some real bush flying.NB:APNG is taking guys straight out flying school again and Hevilift is hiring too.

Yep,
Hit the nail my friend.
Couple of months ago i got a rather nastie PM from blackbandit. Since i don't take much notice of rubbish i laughed it off. I just left the Solomon's after two and a half years having command on the twotter. Bloody good time and good bunch of guys. Looking forward to the next chapter
Blackbandit..get a life, when i was there the TWO local pilots were more than ample, my worry was the expats who wouldn't listen to a word you said.

solomon airlines?
Come on ladies, basically you are all showing lack of experience. The local solomon islander pilots, are useless. Thats why the airline is useless. Probably one of the most unreliable in the south pacific, in one of the easiest environments in the south pacific.
Oh i almost forgot, Damien, flying an ATR500 in fiji hardly counts as a good job. As you know, its your last stop in the pacific, because no one else will have you.
When an airline is not regulated or controlled by a responsible authority, of course its standards will fail. The inexperience in the airline goes all the way to the top.
ps: 17pd, the expats probably didnt listen to a word you said because you talk cr*p.

What about PDL purchasing 2 otters from the States and running them in competition to Sol Air? Which would be a little cheeky
I would be interested to see what there package is to operate - drive for them directly.

Its easy to make a rumour on a Rumour Network, Trex wantok,THE FACTS though, were that the then Chief Pilot still had 2 months left to run on his Solomons medical - and had just renewed his Australian ATP Class One while on leave for 2 weeks while the Vincent Dash 8 was there, when on his return he was Stood Down, then Terminated, by Sumsum, without being given a written reason. He suspects it was precisely because he may have trodden on some toes of local "managers" (?), in his short term over busy times trying to lift Operational Standards, Accountability and Attitudes. THAT is how they "appreciate" contribution from a 20,000 plus hour pilot with over a decade and 9,000 hours of Solomon Islands experience. Get the facts, or stay out of the Solomons debate, repeating someone elses drivel will catch a non Professional every time. frigatebird.

Beech 18 ferried that way recently thru the top of Aus and PNG, from Brissy I think. Startup charter operation. Nice looking machine.
Got some guys working for them that have done some time in the Sollies, good fellas too.
