FIFO Days Numbered

Perhaps someone here could give us some idea of commercial charge out cost for some of the jet types used.
Maybe $10k/hour is not unreasonable, since a single turbine Ag machine can go out for up to $3k/hour.
NWQ is a very busy place these days with FIFO.

When I used $10K/hour for the "average" aircraft, I had in mind the EMB-120 (Embraer Brasilia).
Given W.A.'s present (and recent) FIFO circumstances, I think that that aircraft would have to be at about the "average" point.
A small amount of FIFO is done with C404 and more again with C441 and B200. A lot is done with DHC8/Metro/Brasilia. Bigger again are the F50, BAE146, F100 and B717. B737s are used a couple of times per day to Karratha and at least once per day out to Kalgoorlie. Admittedly, not all pax on the large aircraft would be FIFO travellers (most would be, especially re Karratha).
So, would the EMB-120 be about "average" for the purpose of these calculations? And would it come in at about $10K per hour (incl fuel and crew)?
The more I think about this, the more I think $500 million is conservative. And that doesn't include the FIFO flights into W.A. from other states.

Think the hourly rate will be low but standing charges is the money maker for one contract I know of for a kingair it goes out at 600 an hour but its standing rate is 80000 a month.

I was in Leinster today and saw from a distance a jet landing for the crew change. looked to be along the lines of F100 or 717. (yeah yeah, I was working so I didn't get a good look)
Looked slick and expensive anyway.
I reckon the Puffjet would cost a few bucks an hour to hire as well.

FIFO
So,
Am I right in thinking, with FIFO expanding and going to be around for the forseeable future (although not everone agrees), which companies are looking for pilots for FIFO operations???

Good luck with that mate. more than half of the FIFO crew are now unemployed and more cuts are forecast.

thought so. Just looking to see if there is anything anywhere, but having no luck. Cheers for getting back to me though. Low hour pilots are 10 to a penny right now. Just have o find that opportunity.

When your workforce averages 12 hours a day the community suffers regardless of its location. When given the option precious few ever choose to go back to 3*8, they're there for the money after all.
Club memberships shrink, weekends become non-existent, I watched my home town go through this process and become a shadow of the community it was, and it's still one of the better ones.
How are you going to rebuild Pilbara communities with all the local men working there ar#$s off?
