Kiwi for Qantas
Just wondering if there are any kiwis on here who have been through the application process for direct entry pilot at QF mainline (in OZ)?
Basically I am looking for any advise on the application process? ie residency, equivalency etc. Obviously I have been through the QF site but I'm keen to find out about any potential roadblocks before I start the process of applying.
I haven't converted my license under the TTMRA yet so any advise on possible problems associated with this would be great as well
Cheers in advance

If you are a kiwi with a kiwi pasport you don't need an ozzie residency, unless there has been a law change i am not aware about.
you will need an ASIC (red little card to put money in the ozzie goverment pocket)
you will need to convert your licence, this is no drama, can be done in different ways, I did mine at a CASA office in Tamworth NSW. (CASA is the ozzie version off CAA)
You just have to go there with all your paper work like logbook, medical and licence, and pasport, driver licence. (a few number off ID basicly) if you have a mate over there somewere, ask him to sign a statdec form to say that you live with him and thats about it i think.
other people will have other idea's but thats how i went in converting my licence.
good luck.
As for the rest off your questions about QF i have no idea

I am aware of residency requirements as far as working in Australia goes. However, I am not in Australia so I don't hold a Permanent Residency Visa. Does this mean that I am not eligible to apply for QF or do they waive this because I am a NZ citizen?
QF requirements are......
MINIMUM CRITERIA
Hold Australian Permanent Residency Status
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
Australian Birth Certificate, or
Valid Australian passport, or
Overseas passport with Australian Permanent Residency visa

Having a NZ passport entitles you to a special NZ/Ozy visa (can't remember name of it) it is valid for life (unless you are naughty and get kicked out) and you automatically already hold one if you have an NZ Passport. Gives full rights (bar a couple eg vote and get dole for 12 months) to live and work in Oz.
The same is also true for Ozy going to NZ.
Bottom line is you are Australian so no problems with your application.
To all you Aussies out there just remember your also a kiwi so think about that next time you coming up with Sheep jokes.

Dont bother with a CASA ASIC. Otherwise you will end up buying the same thing twice
As part of joining QF you will need an asic issued by QF ID services, to get you thru doors etc.
As part of your TTMRA application, just tell them that if successful you will apply for the ASIC via QF ID services. Save yourself about $160AUD
