Aus costs- Dont get shafted by the Australian consulate in Auckland. They charge something like $25 a document to certify it. Your better off paying for 30mins of Dr Daniels time or another GP in NZ who is CASA registered and ask them to certify the documents for you.
The ASIC is another pain in the fing rear. It will cost you about $170AUS and make sure you get all the certification they want. The have this thing called primary, secondary and tertiary id and you have to have x number of id's from all or one catergory. They will also want you to provide them with an Aussie address as it cant (the ASIC only) be sent o/seas so when they are processing it ask them to hold off sending it till you have a base in oz or better if you know someone here get it sent to them.

Download this http://www.casa.gov.au/fcl/download/ttmra.pdf and have a good read it explains most stuff. Watch the AFAP web site and apply.
Goodluck

Unlike the rest of us, you are only just starting out, and have yet to spend more money on flying, (or lose it) than you have so far getting your CPL.
There is another superior option which hasn't been mentioned from those further into the game than you, and I mention it now to give the same answer I give to others who haven't started flying yet...
STOP NOW! Have a better life, have more money in the long run, get treated better by your employer, and a better relationship with your girlfriend/wife (to be).

Qantas just advertised for 5 flight planners, starting pay while training 60k.
At least your CPL won't go to waste.

Oh come on delta, aviaiton is not bad. I dont think my employers have been that bad. just some less good than others. my missus gets a 6 week break everytime i go to work. (keeps the spark going for when i get back lol)
and the money isnt all that bad either.
the guy is young, full off dreams etc. so if it all goes peershape for him, he has still plenty off time to recover.
(that will be about 4 girls later and plenty off $$$ down the drain i know)still he should have plenty off live left in him.

One thing i like to say and hear it from many fellow pilots.
we all learned to fly with a dream. we did our ppl's and thats were we should have stopped....
one day it will become a job. just like any other job.
just a bloody nice one.
I do envy private weekend wariors sometimes tough. they can just pick there wether and really enjoy the experience.

cheers

Forgot to say, re getting the docs signed for the Auz licence, find a Auz lawyer in Auckland and get it done for free. Plenty of threads to search for the info.

I remember someone else telling me they did all their paperwork in NZ berfore coming to Oz and got nothing but grief and the whole process to forever, I remember him telling me he should have just done it here for all it was worth

I was already living in Oz before I decided to transfer everything over but I spent about 1 hour in the CASA office getting all the copies of my log book witnessed and stamped, filled out all the paperwork on the spot and got my licence, ASIC and medical all in the mail within a month, infact I was totally amazed how quick and easy it was and regretted never doing it sooner! I left NZ bitter and twisted about the aviation industry and ready to give up, but now I have realized that NZ will do that to you.

By the way there were no lawyers ever involved....just myself and the chick at the CASA front desk...

When I did my transfer, I filled out all paperwork in NZ and then went to oz to visit a mate, simply took my paperwork into the local cop shop got it all stamped, witnessed and signed, then dropped it at the local post office on the way to the pub. It took all of 30min.

Go for the OE

Hey futureboeingcaptian

I know its been said, but head overseas. Head to Aussie or Africa. You're young and by the sounds of things prob proactive and keen to work, so should be able to pick up a job. It can be a bit daunting when you're sitting in NZ but you'll come back to NZ and be surprised how far its put you forward.

Better pay, better conditions, much faster progression, loads of adventures. Best time of my life has been working overseas as a pilot. Zero regrets.

All the best mate

i was wondering if i should go to OZ?
Noone has said anything about it.
HAHAHAHAHAH

Yeah,
I'd be keen to give that a shot.
Thankyou guys so much, huge help and much appreciated.

Also, one last annoying question, once you convert your NZ CPL to a CASA CPL, do you have both, or only the OZ one?

Welcome to the red tape head f**k CASA is.

Forget NZ, Oz is the place to get a start and the first 1000 hr not to mention a semi liveable wage compaired to NZ. Would be good to get to Africa as well at some stage.

Just put a clothes peg on your nose and watch The Crocidile Hunter to get that accent sorted cuz and yous be sweet bro.

here's the extract regarding English proficiency from the NZ-OZ Conversions guide that Mr T linked me to (thankyou)

"CASA implemented the International Civil Aviation Organisation's (ICAO's) language proficiency standards on 5 March 2008 for all licence holders.
CASA recognises language proficiency assessments in the same way that other flight crew qualifications are recognised as long as the issuing State is fully compliant with ICAO standards.
An ICAO compliant language assessment included on your New Zealand licence would be recognised by CASA and entered on your Australian equivalent licence.
You will need to have been assessed to at least a level four English language proficiency to be issued a licence under TTMRA. More information on how to obtain an English language proficiency assessment in Australia can be found on CASA’s website.
Applications received by CASA from applicants who have not completed a language proficiency assessment and have not satisfied at least level 4 proficiency cannot be processed and will be returned to the applicant."

I'm assuming NZ's language prof. is to ICAO standard.
So then no, no need for the eng.prof., unless you haven't already had to do one.

English test huh, I heard about this a few months ago.

What is the actual deal?

Is it something you do before you sit your flight test? if so what level, PPL, CPL? once only thing?

NZ$99 wonder where they came up with that figure, tosser's.

Although I have to admit after flying at airport's with overseas student sausage factory's and how hard some of them are to understand I can see the reasoning behind it, so apart from the price I don't have a problem with it, I assume if you already have a CPL you don't have to do it?

Also what do they actually get you to do?

What a load off fkn st.

specialy if you can do it over the phone. I bet you they wouldnt even work it out iff you had you missus sit the phone test for you.

so you are foreign. past all your theory exams somehow. thats i supose possible as you dont have to speak the lingo.

than you are allowed to fly about in NZ, you go to ozzie they want you to do an test.

it would be VERY interesting to know if they had the balls to say sorry you failed.
has anyone ever heard off someone failing the 99 dollar test?
would the plonkers give you the money back?

You would just love to sit that test and tell them in no nonsense englisch what you think off this idea.
would be even more fked up if they used some boy/girl from a call centre over seas to make you take the test.

this is chin, i will do youl test, so fall you doing velly good.
you make velly good pilot yes?

If they want you to do a englisch test thats fair enough but than BEFORE you take your first flying lesson.
not after spending a lot off money.

we had to sit an englisch exam before we moved to NZ many years ago now. that was fair enough. you wouldnt want to take imigrants who dont speak your lingo. i am happy with that. (apart from afterwards you go to fish and chips shop and you wonder how on earth he/she got in.. but thats a different story)
good luck with your test anyway, make sure you keep the receipt. it will be tax deducteble
