REX Interviews
I have a REX interview shortly.
Anyone know what kind of manouvers are done in the sim? What sort of stuff in the tech exam? What format and query stream in the interview and how many on the interview panel?

My recommendation though is to hire the Metro Sim @ the Ansett Sim Center for an hour. This helps you get used to the sim you'll be doing your assessment in as well as get rid of any butterflies you may have on interview day. The sim instructor you get paired up with will probably know the routine.

Good advice regarding some practice in the Metro sim, especially if you have no experience flying sims!
Fairly straight forward, paired up with another interviewee, take off 16 at ML, some turns, enter the hold at EN, do the NDB approach, vectors for the 16 ILS at ML, land... All up about half an hour, then do the same again as PNF for the other pilot.
Of course now I have told you, they may change it!

Yep, that sounds right from memory...........
I dont really think you need to buy an hour in the metro sim...... especially if your current in IF...... I turned up with no time....straight into the sim and could generally handle it especially if you have flown PA31's and bigger.....
the metro is pitchy and you have to lead/anticipate the turns as it resists rolling very quickly. apart from that its pretty straight forward sim session....
All nav aids are tuned already.
Hint for PNF: just try to give verbal help as much as you can with out bombarding the pilot with useless info. Things like speeds, decent profiles..... obviously radio calls.
Good luck.
With the interview, just try to relax.... its generally more friendlier than the Qantaslink interviews..... quite down to erth.... know the rex share price and be familiar with Rex value statement (found on website). Also, know IFR rules.
Good luck........ Saab is a good plane to fly.....apart from the lack of money they pay there pilots (pretty ****ty really compared to other jobs) its ok for the short term.

How long before they get back to you? Will be 3 weeks on Thursday for me! Does anyone know if any other courses will be scheduled after the next one (starting next Monday the 20th) for the rest of the year?

"lil_b" am curious with what REX would expect a candidate to know during an interview. You seem to know their current thinking. You mention REX current share price ought to be known. As an honest question what possible good could knowing such silly info make for a suitable candidate?
I believe todays Co's have lost the plot a little. They want candidates who have passed Maths Physics etc., they seem to like you to have some sort of aviation degree, know lots about the Co's history etc when a good deal of them only want to gain flying experience & move on, few would give a rats ar*e about their internal workings ref share price etc and am ure would make no difference to their flying abilities. We have seen that exprience required these days as in actual hands on has now gone to the bottom of the barrel.
Yr right about not needing an hour or so in the sim, I agree with you there,if you can't handle a sim ride to a reasonable tollerance doing basic IF stuff then you shouldn't be out in the real soup where it's a whole lot uglier.
Still there is a saying, "chance favours the prepared mind", each to their own!
