Brumby wants EN closed

Read in the local rag on the front page 'Moonee Valley Community News' that Brumby wants Essendon Airport closed. He has got buckleys bacause it's federally operated. Has he ever thought about were the traffic will go. For example if you split half to MB and the other to ML imagine what kaos that would cause. This is one of hundreds of reasons why it should be open at all times.

Perhaps we should close Essendon and open a new airport just down the road from Brumbys place, wherever that may be!

Dear Mr Brumby,

Please close Essendon airport because me and Shazza get really pissed off with that aeroplane noice. We have lived hear for two years and the noise is doing us no good, at least with the freeway the noise is constant all day and night.

If youse were really smart you could turn into one big DFO, and then you could turn up at the big opening and get your photo in the paper and on Foxtel

We all know Melbourne only needs one airport, because thats wear Jetstar fly into.

Those rich knobs that like to fly around in their private planes, need to have a long hard look at themselves because thats wear we getting global warming.

When Shazza and me in the backyard getting pissed we don't want them pesky little planes flying over our backyard checking us out, thats an invasion of my privates.

Also now with the financial meltdown, we need a heap of $2.00 shops so that people can afford to buy stuff, all the more reason to go with the DFO concept.

Regards

Bazz and Shazz
Moonee Ponds.

"8" you crack me up

I say let 'em close it, make it Tulla (closer for me anyway) for all ops displaced then we shall see how Mr "Dumby" can close that too 'cause it's over crowded & ML would fast become carbon positive number 1 ! Can you imagine peak hr into Tulla planes stacked up like pancakes due wx & the use of say one RWY & in wonders little 'ole Capt Wally Med 1 (Granny with broken toe nail) & we have Kaos (bring back 86 & 99, we miss you Don & Barb). We could make it MB where access to Melb's major hossy's is so easy.......NOT ! dumb poliies, have no idea !

Arr.

Fer those of yer who be innerested, if yer happen to be flyin' the 26 ILS into Port Essendon, and yer happen to make a missed approach, and yer happen to do it at the DA, and yer happen to be doing about 90 knots in yer turn, yer will fly straight over Mr Brumby's backyard.

The scurvy-ridden landlubber's never waved back at me, though.

Arr.

Indeed. But he gets his daily dose of "head in paper" with this ****. "Yeah, I'm with all of you long suffering locals!"...but when it comes to actually doing something...way down on page 15..."Sorry, the Feds run the airports, nothing I can do actually"

Save airport or risk lives: group

A NEW player has emerged in the saga surrounding the future of Essendon Airport. The Save the Essendon Airport Group, made up of Moonee Valley residents and workers in the aviation industry, formed about two weeks ago and already has more than 300 signatures on its petition to keep the airport open.
Spokesman Lincoln Robinson, an aviation consultant, said his group would do everything in its power to keep the airport open.
The group has formed in response to the high-profile Close Essendon Airport Committee.
Mr Robinson said the removal of emergency services aviation from Essendon would be catastrophic.
He said the extra time it would take to transport critical patients from Air Ambulance services at Avalon or Tullamarine to hospitals in the CBD could be the difference between life or death.
"People are going to die if Essendon Airport closes," Mr Robinson said.
"The fixed-wing air ambulance is based there so if you have a critically injured kid getting picked up from Broken Hill, for example, and you can't land at Essendon to get the kid to the Royal Children's Hospital you might have to go to Avalon [airport], which is up to 40 minutes' drive away, and longer in the afternoon."
Mr Robinson said even if services were redirected to Tullamarine there would be added travel time and access would be restricted.
"There's not much you can do if there are three jumbo jets in front of you."
CEAC spokesman Mark Harris said the rival group was using dirty tactics trying to "play on people's emotions".
"If a patient is critical they won't be transported by fixed-wing aircraft; they won't transport them until they are stabilised.
"If they are critically ill they are transported by helicopter."
This claim was disputed by Ambulance Victoria, which confirmed that in some cases a fixed-wing air ambulance
did transport critical patients.
Ambulance Victoria's operations manager, Paul Holman, said Essendon was the best location for the Air Ambulance and his organisation was looking forward to the new $19 million base opening at the airport.
"Operating Air Ambulance from Essendon is the most appropriate location to run air ambulance from, both in terms of efficiency and patient care."

Most people don't know the facts about how the Air Ambo's work, both sides have info incorrect in the above statement but that's fine EN will not close I believe in the near future for reasons that cannot be refuted.
the new building as mentioned is almost complete, $20 mill is a lot of money to spend then up root the whole team (emerg services) & go eslewhere just 'cause of a few ill informed locals who 'think' they know what their doing. Anyway I've said it before EN is as safe as eggs.
