TAC Chart Question

G'day people,

On some routes presented on the TAC and ERC charts there is a purple triangle with a purple cross on the top of the triangle tip which means prior permission from ATC required if planning in controlled airspace.

Does this mean we implicity get permission when we give our taxi or dept call or do we have to ring a certain number and ask before we submit our flight plan?

Thanks..

MK

If you don't want to be knocked back on your preferred air route, it is always a good idea to ring the relevant ATC Centre (Brisbane or Melbourne) and seek approval before you lodge your flight plan. Take note of the name of the person you spoke to and the time you sought approval. Ringing before flight plan submission minimises the risk of you being knocked back whilst in flight and having to do last minute replanning.
