Help Please? Cancel flight due to political unrest in Thailand?

Can anyone please help, someone in my family had been planning to go to Thailand for a 3 week holiday this week. DFAT warning is very seroious about political situation there at present, suggesting not to go to certain parts of the country.

They are meant to fly with Singapore Airlines, does anyone know if airlines will refund or give ticket credit due to these sort of situations, when it is just not safe to travel?

I think they are currently trying to contact the airline, but just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with this sort of thing.

Cheers

I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Was in Phuket last year and you could buy tshirts with all the trouble they have had (terrorist bombings, tsunami etc). They got hit really hard by those events and tourists are the source of income for so many people they wouldn't want to bite the hand that feeds them by blocking the airport for too long.

They have made a point to the government but I guess it will have all blown over by the time your relative travels. I am going in a similar timeframe and not worried.
