Hi all,

Are there any openings for FO position in Air New Zealand for a chap with NZ CPL, 744 rated, 1200hrs on 744 and 1500TT?

Regards

How does one get 1200 hrs of 744 time with only 1500 hours total?

I must have slept with the wrong people...

I was thinking the same, unless daddy owns a 744

with SQ. Over here, all current local Captains and FO in the company starts on a wide body with 250 - 300hrs. Its the norm here. Not very sure about how things work in other airlines. So i'm pretty much like the frog in the well and i guess its mutual. Thanks for the info though.

well, i was in NZ for a few years and loved it. Having thoughts of living there again, thus exploring my options.

Did you start as a F/O or S/O?

Simple answer is no.
1. I assume you are not New Zealander
2. Senority.

Thanks for replying.

Came to SQ with CPL, went on the learjet45 for 40hrs, straight onto 744 as an SO for 650hrs before being checked out. Unlike CX and Qantas, SO in SQ flies a lot of sectors.

As for Air NZ..

1) PR is within reach as my points are sufficient. Status of PR equals to Citizen when comes to recruitment?

2) If i'm to start on a smaller fleet, where would that be?

Thanks again.

Just think about it for a minute. Do you think that a cadet from QF or junior pilot from ANZ would be able to walk into the cockpit of a 744 with SQ with only 1500tt?

SO/FOs over in SQ might be short on experience but our rather restricted SOP pretty well cover for our short comings. Because we do not change fleet as an upgrade, our experience are mainly built up hours on that one rating.

Scary or not, that is up to you. My opinion is.. Scary for the my first 4 months solely because of confidence issue than anything else.

For those that have flown 744, which is easier and nicer to fly, light twin or the jumbo? I'll pick jumbo any day even on the worse day.

if WHEN they are desperate like Emirates, yes. It has happened before.

there is no diff between our fleets here as they are no narrow bodies. So i'll answer a YES to all the fleets here.

yes its 1500TT but of which, 1300 is international flying with 60 stations on the network, on the 744 with clean records. Now think about it for a minute.

My situation is a little different, thus asking for options from the locals. We cant always think straight lines.

Thanks.

1200/10 (10hr for an average long haul sector..just a gross guess)

=120
120/2=60

Bout 60-70 return flights roughly..am I wrong?

Didn't take you long to get sick of your career did it winglet..is the fever gone? How many years of SO return of service have you got left? 4 years?

Or are you sick of the senior guys treating you like a flight attendant..bumma
